There's no escaping the popularity of the '69 Camaro, and this slick droptop does well to continue that fandom. The red paint is of good driver quality, professionally applied over straight sheetmetal a few years back, and despite its imperfections, it still presents well down the famous flanks of this mighty '69. Devoid of any stripes or decals that distract from the original design, it's an honest droptop that was built to be driven and enjoyed, not just observed and philosophized over. The restorers also elected to forgo a big cowl hood and obtrusive spoilers, along with ubiquitous fake 'SS' badges that seem to be found on every Chevy restored today, regardless of the car's actual factory genesis. The result is a solid F-body with a period look that everyone will recognize. The blacked-out grille up front looks great up against the red finish, the brightly trimmed 'gills' let everyone know what year this 1st generation Camaro actually is, and the blue Bowtie emblems fore and aft are perfect end caps to this sporty car. Chrome bumpers provide bright contrast to all that red paint, and the '69s are awesome cars due to their clean lines that were a bit more aggressive than the '68s and less busy than the '67s. And the only attributes that keep this droptop from a being a complete 'sleeper' are the '427' badges on the front fenders, previewing the monster that lurks below. This car definitely nails the Camaro performance look.

Complementing the vivid exterior, the gorgeous and brand-new black interior offers supportive vinyl buckets, matching door panels and dash, and a full set of neat-piled black carpets. It's all incredibly fresh with no signs of use anywhere, closely replicating the stock look that adorned F-bodies of the era. Simple is the name of the game inside, with a shifter for the automatic transmission on the column, no center console between the seats, and sparse options. But that's okay, because the appeal of this classic is a top that goes down and the brute strength under the hood, but we'll get to that a little later. A factory-style 3-spoke steering wheel looks right in this resto-mod's monochrome interior, and still offers a great view of the factory gauges just ahead. Entertainment comes via an AM/FM stereo in the factory slot and there's a nice black vinyl convertible top with a clear rear window as well as a top boot to stow it away neatly. Out back, the trunk is finished with new carpeting and has plenty of room to accommodate your travel plans.

Horsepower? Yep, plenty of that here (480 horses to be exact), thanks to a GM Performance ZZ427 V8 big block topped with a FAST EZ fuel injection system. A modern take on the L88 of old, this powerful block combines the rigidity of an iron block with the lightweight benefits and added pop from aluminum heads, and there's a Mallory ignition system to light it up and ceramic-coated headers to let it breathe. 427 Chevrolet scripted valve covers and an open-element air cleaner dress things up a bit, and a serpentine belt drive system ensures reliability. Check out the newer dual reservoir master cylinder and power brake booster, required upgrades thanks to the 4-wheel disc brakes that now live underneath. And while you're under there checking things out, be sure to note that there's a TH400 auto transmission with a 3500 stall convertor, a 1-piece steel driveshaft, Hooker long-tube headers, and a custom 2.5-inch H-pipe dual exhaust with DynoMax mufflers that sounds absolutely wicked. Floors are nearly spotless, Hotchkis sway bars and installed fore and aft, and there's a heavy-duty cover on the 12-bolt posi-traction rear end out back. Classic GM Ralley wheels really can't be beat, and they wear 235/60/15 BFGoodrich white-letter performance radials with full tread at all four corners.
