AMAZING ORIG PAINT, #'S MATCH 427 425HP L72, 4 SPD, PWR STEER, 2 TOPS, EXCELLENT

One of the Sting Rays everyone searches for is a 1966 Chevrolet Corvette convertible with a high horsepower, numbers-matching big block L72 427 still under the hood, and a four on the floor. So when you can find one that is this exceptionally well preserved, and everything you want is still working right down to the clock, then you know this is the 'Vette of your dreams.

Ermine White is a great classic Chevy color, and it's actually rare for the '66 Corvette. More people opted to standout in silver or green more than a sophisticated white. That's why we're pleased, and our sales manager was in such awe when the door of the trailer opened, to see how amazingly nice the original paint is on this droptop. You can already tell from the shine the white still has in the pictures that this car has been in the right hands. In fact, it has been in the same family since 1969, and it has averaged barely 800 miles annually. But more than just great care, it has all the features that make these classics desirable, including the power bubble hood, intricate chrome bumpers shining like mirrors, side pipe exhaust, and of course, the aluminum knock-off style wheels. This convertible was even given ... Please ask for the full description.

This convertible was even given the added taillight trio that was so cool in the day. It's a seriously sporty package, so you have to love the Trophy Blue triple-stripe that was also expertly added years ago that it even flows over the removable hardtop. That's what people did back in the day, and these cool touches are a perfect throwback to the era.

The interior has such an amazing presentation that looks like there was a ton invested into bring this back to '60s-correct style, but in fact, just about everything is original except for the carpeting. It's just another way to remind you what it's like to buy a family treasure. Black vinyl is always a desirable interior to have in a car like this because it always gets you in the performance car mood before even turning the key. But this is far from a sea of darkness. There's plenty of brightwork on everything from the knobs for the AM/FM stereo and heater, to the glovebox lid in the iconic dual cowl dash. When you sit in the low-back bucket seats and grab the chrome shifter, the atmosphere instantly gets nostalgic. The woodgrained steering wheel feels great attached to the telescopic wheel, and the addition of power steering makes piloting this C2 a breeze. All the gauges show crisp markings that let you keep an eye on the engine's status.

This was a pivotal year for the Corvette, because 1966 was the introduction of the now-famous 427 cubic-inch V8. And this Sting Ray celebrates it perfectly with the most powerful version still sitting in the engine bay. The L72 motor was rated by the factory at 425 horsepower, and while this is the numbers-matching powerplant, it likely has some added kick thanks to a full rebuild by County Corvette in PA, that included bored .030 over, new pistons, hydraulic roller cam, and a new radiator. It's dressed properly with Chevy Orange on the block and valve covers. Plus, there's a nice bit of flash with the correct ignition shield and chrome air cleaner with 427 decals. While the miles are exceptionally low, you won't be able to resist adding a few to the odometer of this big block classic. The original close-ratio four-speed allows you to dial in the performance and roar of the sidepipes on a moment's notice; the fully-independent suspension holds the road better than some modern muscle machines; and the four-wheel disc brakes provide superior stopping power.

Here's a desirable and exceptionally preserved 427 Sting Ray that even comes with plenty of paperwork, including the owner's manual, reproduction window sticker, receipts, photos, and more. It's a great example of history you can drive, and it will be hard to find another classic so well cared for like this one. Call today!!
