It includes performance upgrades such as GT40 heads, aluminum intake, an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, and K-code exhaust manifolds. It now produces 312 horsepower, and the H-pipe dual exhaust does a fine job of letting people know about the extra power in this Cougar. The enhanced V8 is mated to a stout C4 three-speed automatic transmission with shift kit. This sends power to the Ford nine-inch limited slip rear end that's running 3.25 gears for a good balance between power take-offs, and real-world usability. This is enhanced further by great anytime driving features like the power steering, front disc brakes, and modern tires on those attractive factory Mag wheels.
