It's been dressed nicely with the chrome air cleaner and valve covers, but overall the V8 feels exceptionally authentic, right down to the displacement decal and the blue fan that matches the block. A motor this large has no trouble giving this full-size Ford some real get-up-and-go, and the dual exhaust makes a powerful sound without losing the car's cruising attitude. That's really how to view this drop top Galaxie 500. It's a power steering car with a three-speed automatic transmission and power brakes. So, it's no slouch in-between the stoplights, but it's really more comfortable taking everyone to the Saturday cruise-in.
