Maybe it's a Ford? Nope. Guess again. Chevrolet? Wrong again. This great looking 2 Door is in fact a rare 1934 Terraplane 2 Door Sedan, a unique vehicle from the maker of antique cars built by the Hudson Motor Car Company in the 1930s. This Sedan has been restored to handle the rigors of modern times, powered by a strong 318 V8, an automatic transmission, and plenty of classic styling that make this beauty the most interesting and never-before-seen streetrod at any car show.

Known as Essex-Terraplanes until the name was shortened to simply Terraplane in 1934, these cars were known for really getting us into the era of solid body cars, ushering in a lineage of similar cars made by pretty much all the major manufacturers, most of which are still beloved today. The design is a bit more substantial than the Fords and Chevrolets of the day, and so that gives you instant distinction. Plus, the all steel body fits together with the kind of care that commands respect. Finished in two shades of cream, this Sendan presents itself with an upscale distinction you'd assume to find on a much more expensive car. And this car even has all the right vintage pieces like the swooping vertical grille, dual one-piece chrome bumpers, suicide doors, and spare integrated into the passenger fender. But no one will mistake this for just a '30s-style jaunty machine. After all, this might have a more muted finish, but the shine it radiates tells you someone wanted this to be super-slick when it was restored several years ago. And the low-slung profile on those bright wheels with half-moon caps tell you this distinct classic is also a rolling thunder.

Inside, this one reveals more of its custom attitude. After all, the individual comfort of bucket seats wasn't available in the '34, but this one offers it for everyone thanks to the modern tweed pieces that have been swapped in. That tweed upholstery is also on the back seat, along with the door panels that are adorned with the same treated wood found in the custom dash. And in that dash you'll find a set of upscale Dolphin gauges up top, and an aftermarket air conditioning unit below that blows nice and cold, R134a treated air. A three-spoke steering wheel rest atop a tilt column, and amenities like power windows and an AM/FM/CD/AUX head unit provides the tunes. The carpets are plus and jutting from them up front is a Lokar shifter that controls the 3-speed automatic transmission below. Out back the trunk is finished with carpet as well and provides enough room for all you car show goodies.

While the exterior is all Terraplane, under the hood rests a strong 318 V8, swapped in from a mid-'80s Dodge, making it much more capable than the original stock. It inhales deeply with an Edelbrock 650 CFM four-barrel carburetor an intake, with air traveling through the chrome open-element air cleaner. And it exhales with authority as long-tube headers add even more power while also contributing to the subtle rumble of the dual exhaust. The A904 three-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly and spins highway friendly gears inside the capable rear end. Underneath you'll find a solid presentation featuring a Corvair front suspension, rack-and-pinion steering, and power 4-wheel disc brakes. So, if you're thinking about driving this cool classic, then don't forget to look at the undercarriage photos. Finishing the look is a set of shiny half-moon rims wrapped in 205/60/15 front and 215/75/15 rear blackwall radials that look great.

Fully restored and as rare as they come, you're looking at power, comfort, and true distinction all wrapped up in a very cool streetrod. Unique cars like this never last in our inventory long. Call today!
