428 BIG BLOCK V8, 4 SPEED, ROTISSERIE RESTO, ACTUAL MILES, DOCUMENTATION, RARE!

A 1968 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Convertible has dream classic status for being rare and exceptionally powerful. But this one earns its irresistible desire by already fulfilling your full wish list. That means a full rotisserie restoration, an awesome factory-correct color combo, four-on-the-floor, and a time capsule style everywhere from the big block to the AM radio. It's even an actual low miles car!

There's just no mistaking the Shelby look. The custom fiberglass hood, the side scoops, the Marchal fog lights, all the snake-bitten badging, and the integrated spoiler of the rear decklid - it all makes an impressive statement. And these Shelbys just seem to know how to mix added style within the exceptional power. You see it in details like the sequential taillights and intricate 10-spoke alloys. And the triple rocker stripe goes nicely with the bright white roof. The factory-correct Sunlit Gold Metallic is a highly desirable color. After all, this sunshine-friendly convertible looks terrific when you have a color with "sun" right in the name. It also is essential that this golden Cobra has been treated like true precious metal.
The full rotisserie restoration was completed in 2012, and we have a full photo file documenting it. And because this one has been under the same care as the one who had it restored, it has been cherished for the last decade. So the body panels and finish will put to shame some cars that just completed their restoration last week. You'll really be impressed with the freshness, right down to the weather-stripping.

When investing in a full restoration, the interior gets as much attention as the exterior... especially when you can power down the roof and show it all off with ease. So the black looks crisp and clean, right down to the trim on the seatbacks. These cars were a terrific mix of premium style and sporty upgrades. That's why these had full wood-like trim, the cobra logo embossed in the armrest, and a roll hoop for added strength. You'll spot all the best classic details, like working courtesy lights, Philco AM radio, and a color-matched convertible boot. There's even a classic-style Goodyear full-size spare in the pristine trunk. The odometer reflects the actual mileage, and that means this has averaged only about 750 miles annually! Still, we know you'll want to fully enjoy this drop-top. After all, a GT500 is a true driver's machine. There are the front bucket seats, a factory center console, the optional tilt-away steering column, SW auxiliary readouts, and a full gauge package with a large speedo and handy tach. So you know this one was made for more than just collecting car show awards.

Ford's big 428 cubic-inch V8 was borrowed from the Police Interceptor package, and that's what makes sure these GT500s were a true authority on the blacktop the moment they left the showroom. We're told the motor currently under the hood is a 1969 warranty replacement block. It's an interesting kind of history that gives this car a little more assurance in its components while also not straying too far from the factory setup. And the restoration makes sure it retains a highly correct style. That means the bright blue block, correct decals, long Cobra finned air cleaner, and matching valve covers. And you get to fully harness this power with the correct four-speed manual transmission that's believed to be original to the car. The GT500 utilized a beefed-up version of the Mustang's GT package, and you also have power steering, power brakes, and front discs. So we know you'll easily add to the odometer of this low mileage collectible.

The sale comes with the Marti Report, owner's manual, a reproduction Shelby window sticker, title documentation, restoration photos, and background info on its original sale. If you're a collector it's time to own a sharply restored significant piece of Shelby history. Call today!!!
