TRUE SS, 350 V8, MUNCIE M20 4 SPEED, VERY NICE RESTO, STRAIGHT/SOLID/CRISP BODY!
There's only one proper way to rewrite history, and that's with more power. This 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu SS looks like a flawless survivor, but underneath the skin beats a much more aggressive heart.
Chevelles hit the scene in a big way for the first time in 1964, and a genuine Super Sport coupe like this one was a key reason for the success. The design represents the new edge style of the 1960s, especially the flared rear quarter panels that are the car's defining feature, as well as the crisply contoured hood that bears a familial resemblance to its big brother, the Impala. As you look over this coupe, you can see a high-level restoration that has upheld these defining features. It's in the smoothness of the bodywork, the fit of the doors, and the way the super-slick, factory-correct silver blue paint has been buffed and polished to shine that rivals the trim. The brightwork is excellent on everything from the wide grille to the SS badging, which tells you someone invested a lot in this coupe to keep it looking this good. The only piece that doesn't look straight from the factory are the stylish Cragar wheels... but let's face it, if this were your SS back in the 60s, you'd do the exact same thing.
Open the door, and this time machine continues to deliver the goods. It has period-correct desirable features like the black vinyl bucket seats, center console, and even factory deluxe seatbelts. This one is truly original, down to the heat/defrost controls. Cruising always feels extra cool when you look out from behind the wheel and see the big, bright dash panel with round gauges. Of course, you'll also instantly pick up on one modern upgrade. The Sunpro tachometer is a bit of a standout, but you'll be very thankful it's there to keep you in the much enhanced powerband.
We hinted at some serious power earlier, but it's not immediately obvious from the moment you pop the hood that this one has something very special. The original 283 cubic-inch V8 was hot for its time, but it's no match for the 350 engine that now lives under the hood. This has been stealthily installed in the engine bay right down to the original motor's stickers. So it's really up to you to tell everyone at the car show that much hotter crate small-block that was installed 10K miles ago. To ensure the entire coupe would be up to the added performance of the new motor, everything was replaced from the moment of ignition to where the power meets the road. So this factory optioned four-speed car had a fresh Muncie M20 manual transmission installed. At the same time it this was given a new clutch, drive shaft, and a 12-bolt Positraction rear end with 4.11 ratio. All these new parts means the upgraded performance also now comes with bulletproof reliability. Even the exhaust was enhanced with headers by Hedman and exhaust by Flowmaster. The new dual 2.5-inch units with H-pipe performance configuration gives this special Chevy the roar it deserves.
This amazingly restored Super Sport looks beautifully stock right down to its original owner's manual, but underneath the skin is a coupe gone wild. It's already gathering a ton of attention in our showroom so call today!!
