The brainchild of maverick auto exec John DeLorean, the Pontiac LeMans Sprint was built around what was at the time a novel concept: take power modifications most commonly associated with V8s - such as a performance cam, higher compression, larger valves and a 4-barrel carb - and apply them to GM's inline 6-cylinder to extract maximum power. Sprints were only around for a few years, as the car buying public felt more comfortable with a tried and true V8 under the hood, and that very sentiment is reflected in this 1967 Pontiac LeMans Sprint's upgraded, larger engine and more modern transmission that provide it with great road manners to combine with its strong curb appeal.

Every once in a while, a subtle tweak of a more commonly encountered color can make a world of difference, and that's what we have here. The blue metallic shade on this Pontiac is a bit darker than the norm and it looks awesome. It's in great shape from front to back, with a nice smooth texture and even shine and it provides a very effective backdrop for the clean white stripes running alone its sides. Up front, the signature vertically placed dual twin headlights sit in fresh chrome casings to either side of the split front grille that really pops against its black background. Above, the black vinyl top really complements the paint and appears to have been fairly recently installed. As you circle the car, you'll notice that every badge and emblem sits securely in place and looks very sharp. This is a well-aligned classic, with nice tight gaps surrounding its body panels, as well as doors, hood and deck lid that open and shut without issue.

The black vinyl interior has all the aesthetic elements of a first-class vintage driving environment. It retains its original look and is in impressive condition. The wide bucket seats up front and bench seat in back still have a fresh appearance, with plenty of padding for comfort and no visible signs of distress on their surfaces. Below them, the black carpet lining the floor is nice and fresh, while above, the headliner is also in great shape. The dash area still has its original gauges in its instrument cluster, and they're still functional, while just above, the dash pad is table straight and has yet to develop any cracks. This is a sizable muscle car, so the trunk area in back is nice and roomy, even with its fresh-looking factory spare and period-correct jack inside.

A more traditional and still period correct 326 cubic inch V8 now sits in the engine compartment in place of the original inline six. It not only adds some horsepower under the hood, but its larger displacement is more in keeping with this Pontiac's muscle car identity. It sports a 4-barrel of its own underneath a chrome air cleaner, and mates with a 3-speed automatic TH350 transmission that replaces its original 2-speed Power Glide. It's a healthy-sounding, smoothing running engine, with plenty of power to propel this vintage Pontiac with conviction on its stock 14" PMD wheels that are outfitted with Toyo Spectrum touring radials. Its power steering is in top form to provide easy navigation, and power brakes are at all four corners for low effort stops. An HEI distributor was recently added to up its dependability factor and if you take a peek underneath, you'll see an undercarriage that's nice and solid.

The pull of a classic Pontiac that's looking great and in very road-ready condition is strong and this 1967 Pontiac LeMans Sprint offers a great chance to act on it. Call today!
