High performance options are nothing new to the Corvette community, but in 2001 when Chevrolet unveiled the new powerful Z06, the automotive industry marveled at their creation. For the first time since 1963, a Corvette carried the legendary Z06 badge and had the performance and looks to back it up. This 2002 Corvette Z06 is a stunning example of how incredible these cars were. Starting with a 400+hp LS6, it's a near-seamless blend of awesome good looks and hardcore performance.

It's hard to argue with painting a high performance Vette like this Z06, in black. This car absolutely gleams in the showroom and while the paint is not perfect, its clear that is has been cherished by dedicated owners. It has been driven enough to keep everything in top condition mechanically and thanks to conscientious maintenance and a lifetime of being a "second" car, the paint shows extremely well. The bodywork is beautifully preserved, and makes it hard to believe this car is 13 years old. You know how challenging black can be to maintain, but you also know that nothing looks better when it's right, and this car has a fantastic look that would fit the streets today as it did when it rolled out of the showroom.

The only interior you could get with a Z06 was black leather, but that's just fine with us since it looks so impressive. With just over 72,000 original miles, everything works as it should, including ice cold dual-zone A/C, power windows, locks, and driver's seat, and a powerful AM/FM/CD stereo system. There's minimal wear but certainly it's in line with the mileage, and the carpets have been protected from new by a set of matching black floor mats. The gauges and black leather seats are branded with Z06 lettering, although you won't even have to look at the gauges thanks to the heads up display that appears on the windshield. The Z06 also offers a good-sized trunk that's fully lined in black carpet, meaning that you can use this Corvette like a real car, should that be your intention.

The 2001 Z06 left the factory with just over 380 horsepower, but in 2002, they upped the horsepower to an astonishing 405hp. Tilt the hood forward on this Z06 and you'll find the original 5.7 liter sequential fuel injection V8 lying under the hood. It was a formidable performer, yet it could still pull down 28 MPG on the highway, something few other cars could match. The high output LS6 looks fantastic within the engine bay especially thanks to handsome red removable covers with CORVETTE emblazoned on their surface. The only addition that appears to have occurred since it left the factory is the addition of aftermarket headers, but when you hear the engine come to life with the x-pipe exhaust, you will admit that it was a good upgrade. The Z06 also brought with it a 6-speed manual transmission that fed power to a limited slip differential. At the corners you'll find 4-wheel power disc brakes that sit behind aluminum 5-spoke rims wrapped in Pilot Sport rubber.
