Cars like this 1968 Chevrolet Caprice are an excellent representation as to why we love classic, Detroit metal. Large sheet metal, bright chrome, handsome styling, and V8 performance all come together to create a fantastic package that will reaffirm the statement, "They don't make'em like this anymore."
The first generation Caprice is a large car, no doubt about it. Somehow GM designers still managed to style the massive sheet metal into a sleek and properly formal design. Correct Matador Red paint topped by a black, vinyl hard top adds a bit more authentication to the classic appeal this car brings. Being free of any custom touches, this car represents how you would've ordered one off the lot in 1968, and it represents it well with proper badges, plenty of chrome and stainless highlighted throughout. Redline tires wrap appropriate 15'' GM Rallys for a look that retains undeniable classic good looks.
Inside is a correct black, vinyl interior that offers plenty of room for five full size adults. Nicely tailored front buckets are split by an optional center console that houses a cool, horseshoe shifter. Other options include the factory AM/FM/8 track player and Comfortron heat and air ...
Other options include the factory AM/FM/8 track player and Comfortron heat and air conditioning, and power windows. And whenever you have a black dash in a classic ride like this, wood trim and a 3-spoke wood steering wheel always add a nice touch. Everything appears to be in nice shape, it's certainly a cabin that is ready for more cruise-ins and road trips.
Power comes from the original 327 cubic inch V8. Larger engine options were available for 1968, but the 327 still has enough go to get the big car going. Still sporting that 'as-built' attitude, the engine bay doesn't have any bright chrome or large pulleys, but it appears to be maintained as needed throughout it's life. Power is sent to a 3-speed automatic transmission, and it's cradled in an undercarriage that will prove why these cars are so solid and durable with large components. All of that heavy-duty hardware tallys up to a chassis that has a lot of rolling mass, so keeping things in control are power brakes and power steering.
The appeal this car brings far exceeds our asking price. This '68 Caprice has timeless good looks that captures why we love classic, American metal. It's honest fun in a package that will stir up old memories on Main Street crusing, and create many more. Call today!
