This 1966 Chevrolet Impala SS has a cool vintage style with its classic appearance, Powerglide transmission, and correct Super Sport bucket seat interior. But then you also spot the right upgrades - including A/C and V8 enhancements - and soon you realize just how much this classic coupe is also great for modern cruising.
Chevrolet's best-selling full-size Impala really looks sleek and striking in '66, and this hardtop coupe represents all of that perfectly. The golden glow of the paint looks close to 1966's Sandalwood color, but with a more modern application and a brighter appearance. Of course, it also takes straight sheetmetal for this kind of admirable presentation. All the brightwork is correct from the wraparound bumpers, to the full-width grille. These Impalas also had a sweeping trim line that starts at the front fender and wraps around the rear for a dash of full-size elegance. You're looking at a real-deal code-68 Super Sport, and even the fender badging is correct. So everything from the SS wheel covers to the bright dual exhaust tips are fitting for this hardtop.

The golden glow of the exterior harmonizes with the fawn interior. This Super Sport has the correct stylized bucket seats that have a low-back presentation to give this pillar-less hardtop a terrific uncluttered profile when all the windows are down. In-between is a bright center console and sporty floor shift. And because this is a driver's coupe, you have an upgraded wood-rimmed steering wheel mounted on a tilt column. With the door panels, carpeting, and headliner so nicely presented, too, this coupe is a fine place to spend some time. And that's a good thing considering the full-size Impala SS has plenty of room to carry five total. Plus, cold-blowing R134a air conditioning keeps everyone comfortable.
The 283 cubic-inch V8 under the hood is the right kind of motor for a '66, and it's even an era-correct block. However, you can instantly tell that this is far from stock. The bold orange block appears to have been resprayed later in life, and the cast valve covers and air topper have been done to match. It also has some power upgrades from the Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock Performer EPS intake. Plus, there are plenty of the right supporting components, like an Accel HEI distributor, upgraded pulleys, a newer alternator, and an aluminum radiator w/electric fan. The V8 fires up with a nice low rumble from the glasspack dual exhaust. A cool hardtop coupe like this was built for cruising, so you'll enjoy features like the Powerglide automatic transmission, power steering, and power brakes.
This is a true classic style that also has the upgrades you really want. So don't let this hardtop classic slip away, call today!
