CLASSIC PONY, 289 V8, 3 SPEED AUTO, WHIMBLEDON WHITE, RED/WHITE INTERIOR.

Every time we think we've found the perfect bargain Mustang, another one shows up and blows us away. This handsome 1966 coupe has a lot of appeal, from its gorgeous two-tone interior to the potent 289 under the hood. It's one of those cars that you couldn't possibly duplicate for the asking price, and works as great as it looks.

There's something unassuming about a Wimbledon White Mustang. Sure, Carroll Shelby used Wimbledon White on his early GT350s, but on a car without the aggressive racing stripes, it's easy to under-estimate it. Fortunately, this lovely coupe has a lot of attitude, and isn't afraid to show it. Paint and bodywork are very well done, and the Mustang coupes somehow have a unique combination of style and sophistication that makes a performance version that much more appealing! It's a stock look and crisply executed and the paint has a soft shine that looks exactly good on the Mustang body. The 289 badges are legit and the vintage look is topped off with rally wheels wrapped in white wall tires.

Pony interiors always add value, but when they're as well done as the red and white combination in this car, you'll want to get in and drive all day. Wimbledon White with a red ... Please ask for the full description.

Pony interiors always add value, but when they're as well done as the red and white combination in this car, you'll want to get in and drive all day. Wimbledon White with a red interior is a classic combination, and the white inserts on the seats keeps it from being red overload. Patterns and materials are authentic, and it shows almost zero wear. Fresh carpets, new door panels, and a taut headliner make it feel like new, and a removable console with cup holders adds some convenience. A white, 3-spoke steering wheel has been fitted, a cool twist on the usual wood-rimmed piece, and the stereo is a retro AM/FM piece that has an iPod/auxiliary input located in the ash tray.

This Mustang did leave the Metuchen assembly plant with a C-code 289 under the hood, so the 289 that lives in this engine bay continues with the stock theme. The engine bay remains simple with just hoses, wires, and belts being replaced as needed. A 3-speed automatic transmission transfers the high-revving motor's power, while it breathes through an exhaust system that creates a pleasing and familiar rumble. It's an honest cruiser that is devoid of gaudy modifications or unnecessary upgrades. Putting the rubber to the road is 195/75/14 Hankook H714 radials at all four corners.

When you can have a reliable V8 powered Mustang for the price of a used compact car, how can you go wrong? This '66 Mustang is the perfect car for the classic car enthusiast, or a companion that you can drive and enjoy. When cars that are a bargain like this come through our showroom, they don't last long. Call today!
