When the finalized design plans for the Ford Falcon went from drafting table to the assembly line, the people at Blue Oval headquarters couldn't have known just how much of an impact the model would have. After all, the Falcon - backed enthusiastically by then Ford exec and soon to be Defense Secretary Robert McNamara - was created mainly to stem the tide of American buyers who were looking increasingly to foreign cars instead of domestic offerings (that were becoming larger and more expensive to own) by providing them with a compact car that was both sporty and reliable. The model was a rousing success, and fine examples like this 1963 Ford Falcon Sprint also attracted the enthusiasm of early '60s muscle car hobbyists, who were drawn in right away by the Falcon's attractive lines and relatively light weight.
Bright red paint takes the place of the Corinthian White this Falcon started out with, certainly adding increased flash and a custom feel. It's a nice-looking paint job, smooth and even, and a recent thorough wax and polish has brought it to a whole new level.
