After a successful seven years of production with the C5 Corvette, Chevrolet gave it a grand exit with a Commemorative Edition option, and celebrated back-to-back victories at the 24 Hours Le Mans. This 2004 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 received that Z16 Regular Production Option and represents how great the fifth generation Corvette really was.

The Commemorative Edition option was available for base coupe, convertible, and Z06 Corvettes for the 2004 model year. All cars were covered in the same beautiful Le Mans Blue paint that graces the panels of the GT class dominating C5-R race car. Sporting less than 2500 miles per year since new, this car has seen very little road time and wears that blue hue proudly. The Z06 optioned cars received further enhancements with bold, silver stripes that are highlighted with red outlining, giving the Z06 an even closer resemblance to the C5-R. Also specific to the Z06 is the carbon fiber hood that weighs in at just over 20 lbs. Wrapping up this special edition 'Vette is commemorative edition badging that gives a nod to the 2 GTS class wins. With the Z06 option, you can also count on functional scoops and inlets for brake cooling and air delivery to the engine.

Open the doors and notice a very clean black leather interior with power bucket seats sporting Corvette cross-flags embroidery on the headrests. With the commemorative edition exclusive embroidering, everything else inside remains stock. The C5 Corvette presented a comfortable cabin that kept you snug for sporty driving. Everything is within easy reach and all of the amenities you would expect from a high end 2004 sports car are there, such as power windows, power door locks, passenger climate control, driver/passenger air bags, AM/FM/CD player, cruise control, air conditioning, and even a heads-up display that will display revs, speed, and other important information.

The Z06 was Chevrolet's top dog Corvette until the C6 ZR1 started production in 2009, now with the introduction of the 2015 C7 Z06, the Z06 designation is back to the top spot. With that said, you can count on a hair-raising experience with this Vette as it's packed with a 5.7L LS6 V8 that punches out 405 horsepower and sends power to a manually shifted 6-speed transmission. In this lightweight coupe, that's enough power to propel it down the 1/4 mile in less than 12 seconds flat! Being a Z06, there is a slew of suspension and braking enhancements over base model Corvettes. However, the Z16 option on this car also provides shock tuning for improved handling over previous model Z06s. Lift this car in the air and you'll see a flat underbelly that provides a .29 drag coefficient to keep the car planted and stable at high speeds. Power steering, and power four wheel disc brakes, upgraded from standard Corvette models, makes this Z06 is a blast to drive with sticky 265/40/17 front and 295/35/18 rear Firehawk Wide Oval tires putting it all to the asphalt.

Approximately 1700 of these 2004 Commemorative Edition Corvette Z06s were sold in the U.S. market with just over a few hundred shipped overseas, making this car and instant collectible.
