Description
A real-deal 1966 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport convertible is a wonderful thing. And this has everything from proper V8 power to an A/C interior. Plus, it's a well-documented car with a unique history that involves decades of care under the same family - all in the Nashville area.
The Impala was the premium Chevy, and so it's highlighted by the crisp lines carried on this exceptionally well cared for classic. In fact, this started life as a doctor's car sold new in Nashville. We have a detailed story from his son-in-law that tells how he admired both the doctor's car and his daughter. So he married the girl and purchased the drop-top...both were long-term relationships. The car spent decades in the family and was serviced regularly. It stayed in the family into the 1990s and included a restoration during that decade. Today, the car shows the right look of this proper care. The Ermine White paint is factory correct, and the gloss from the later respray still gives it a nice glow in the sunshine. The black folding roof fits snugly; the trim is bright and complete; the factory hubcaps are in place; and the doors fit with the crispness not seen in many convertibles of this era. The wide chrome grille up front integrates nicely into the wraparound bumper. And in the rear, the bumper has a terrific fit as it integrates into the sheet metal. It makes for a sharp-looking classic that will make you proud to tell its story.
With the flip of a switch, the black convertible top powers down to show off the handsome black interior. So you have the upper-class look of black and white no matter if the roof is up or down. The interior has a terrific classic and preserved style, right down to the trim on the seats. Even the AM radio is still cranking out tunes. There are a few updates, but they are worthwhile ones that were subtly added. For example, the door seals were updated later in life and the factory air conditioning now blows cold with modern R134a refringent. And this real-deal Super Sport has a driver-oriented layout that includes bucket seats up front, a center console in-between, a floor shifter, and a nice grip on the classic thin steering wheel.
The engine bay has the same correct and classic look as the rest of the car. The 327 cubic-inch V8 is the right motor for the car. And this date-correct block is believed to be the original motor in a car that has such a respected history. It was rebuilt as part of the restoration, and it now is also topped with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor w/electric choke. The way this fires up and runs smoothly reminds you of the decades of care. Plus, power steering, power brakes, and the Powerglide automatic transmission keep this Impala an easy cruiser.
A car this distinct needs the right paperwork to tell its story. So the sale comes with the original dealer invoice, owner's manual packet, first registration, maintenance records, restoration photos, and a letter from the son-in-law explaining the history. All-around terrific classics like this don't come along very often and never stay available for long. Call today!!!
