396/ 350 HP, AWESOME RED PAINT, 4SPD WITH 3.42 GEARS, 12-BOLT REAR END, NICE!

Some cars get all the breaks. This 1967 Chevelle SS396 enjoys being one of the most popular muscle cars of all time. It wears bright red paint. It's got a 4-speed behind a cackling L34 big block. And someone's going to take it home for a fraction of the restoration costs.

Originally code F Bright Blue, you can't fault a guy who, after striping a car to bare metal and rebuilding it from there, wants to get a little attention. So bright red it is, and the look is extremely impressive. These early SS models have a no-nonsense look that's driven by performance, not style, and when putting it back together, they were careful to remember that. That meant an original hood with those cool chrome inserts, not some generic cowl-induction unit. That meant getting the sheetmetal ultra-straight so it would show well without showing off, and after the two-stage urethane paint went on, they buffed it until the reflections were crystal clear. A black pinstripe along the flanks emphasizes the sleek profile and there's no getting around the “Super Sport” badges and crossed flag emblems on the front fenders; this sucker means business. The grille, bumpers, and blacked-out tail panel are all in very nice ... Please ask for the full description.

A black pinstripe along the flanks emphasizes the sleek profile and there's no getting around the "Super Sport" badges and crossed flag emblems on the front fenders; this sucker means business. The grille, bumpers, and blacked-out tail panel are all in very nice shape, meaning it doesn't have a single bad angle. It's really nice.

The interior is fairly stock, but with a few upgrades that match the SS's "built for combat" attitude. Beautifully reupholstered black bucket seats look virtually unused and the carpets, door panels, and headliner are equally nice. A center console with built-in clock gives the Chevelle an upscale feel inside, and with the sweeping instrument panel and its shiny metal trim, the interior looks polished and sophisticated. A tach strapped to the steering column is probably a smart addition for an expensive engine living with a 4-speed gearbox, and there's an AM/FM/cassette stereo that makes for more entertaining cruising when you're not running hard. Nothing dramatic and no series mods, but there's no question someone was sweating the details here. Even the trunk is nicely finished with a reproduction mat and a spare tire with its own matching cover.

The only way you could get an SS in 1967 is with 396 cubes under the hood, and this 1970-vintage block was rebuilt and detailed to look authentic under the hood. Aiming for an L34 spec, it has an upgraded cam, Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, and a Holley double-pumper carb, all of which combine to make it a serious threat on the street. On the other hand, the nicely detailed Chevy Orange block, chrome big block valve covers, and open-element air cleaner with reproduction decals give it a very original look. Power steering and brakes are a good idea with something this big and this fast, and the Muncie 4-speed is how this car came from the factory. Flowmaster mufflers give it an awesome exhaust note, especially with that cam in there, and the clean under-body looks like it's had plenty of attention so it's ready to roll. A rugged 12-bolt rear with 3.42 gears inside provides the right combination of speed and comfort, while factory Rallys wear 225/70/15 front and 235/70/15 rear black-wall radials.

It's not a numbers car, but the lucky guy who buys this Chevelle is going to get a car that's built for fun and delivers in a big way. Call today!
