GREAT RUNNING 351 CLEVELAND V8, AUTO, SMOOTH OPERATING POWER TOP, COLD A/C, NICE

On the watch for a truly road-ready and comfortable classic convertible you can hop in, turn the key and enjoy right away? This 1973 Mustang has the boxes checked. A great combination of nostalgic good looks and reliable functionality, it runs smooth, has the convenience-providing features you'll want at the ready and in good working order . . . and it benefits from just a few thoughtfully selected upgrades as well.

The '73 Mustang represents the last of its kind before Ford, under Lee Iococca's direction, would change their course drastically and go to the much-smaller Mustang II. Its size provides a big part of its charm, as it has a long sleek profile that places it low enough to the ground to give it a definite agile identity. When you check out the long hood tapering back to an angled windshield, the combination is downright sleek and aerodynamic. Its factory-correct copper exterior looks good, too. There's a nice metallic finish to it and it's highlighted by a broad black stripe running across its scooped hood and below its midline. This is a color combination that provides all the stock, period-appropriate sportiness you would want, while still remaining tasteful. From front to ... Please ask for the full description.

From front to back, you'll notice that everything lines up well – no overly-cramped gaps, no protruding panels. From all appearances, it looks ready to hit the road and start on its next adventure. That's because it REALLY is ready.

Hop inside and you'll see one of the obvious dividends produced by its size. It's got ample leg and shoulder room both fore and aft. Check out the back seat and you'll see that two normally-sized adults could ride in back without complaint, even on an extended trip. The still fresh black vinyl upholstery covering both the front buckets and back bench sits nice and smooth, showing no wrinkling, and the matching black carpeting below it retains a pile that looks just as tall as when it was installed. This still stock-looking interior is well-cared for everywhere you glance, from its crack-free, still-straight dash pad, to the black panels with their wood inserts on each side. Take a look at the center console and you'll likely realize it both provides actual storage space and sits high enough to actually rest an elbow on while driving – surprisingly convenient features you don't find on all that many cars of its era. Speaking of convenience, the creature comforts you'd want while out on the road actually work. The Classic Air A/C is running optimally through stock registers and benefits from a new compressor, the power windows roll up and down smoothly and at surprising speed and, in direct contrast to a LOT of '70s era convertibles, the electric top ascends and descends without incident . . . and without having to climb in back to lift it into place.

Mechanically-speaking, there are just the right touches to augment performance and drivability without overreaching. The 351 Cleveland engine sitting comfortably in its compartment packs a markedly increased punch by virtue of the aluminum intake and Holley 4-barrel residing above it. It sounds very healthy, idles smoothly and is bolted to a stock, FMX 3-speed automatic that's actually known for both longevity and dependability. A Mallory ignition has also been installed for a stronger spark, joined by a new radiator and alternator. Combined with front power disc brakes, these features reinforce the notion that this convertible is ready to fire up and drive right now with confidence. Take a look at the undercarriage and you'll see nice straight and undented frame rails. This 'Stang doesn't look like it's ventured anywhere it wasn't supposed to.
