This slick 1999 Corvette has a slightly more aggressive look than your average C5 thanks to some clever upgrades that use factory pieces to give it a very OEM look. Nicely maintained and not radically modified under the hood, it's one of those clean drivers that tend to stand out at car shows and on the highway.

Dressing your 'Vette in black is never a bad choice, and the clean lines of the C5 seem to work especially well. This one shows off the ministrations of a dedicated owner who made sure it was always clean and waxed, and given the relatively low mileage, it wasn't used in the daily grind. As a result, the usual high-wear areas still look great, including the nose, rockers, and behind the rear wheels. It has also been enhanced with a few parts from the Z06 parts list, including the mesh grilles up front and the brake cooling ducts just ahead of the rear wheels, both additions that make the standard C5 look a lot more aggressive without radically altering its character. Other subtle tricks include the tinted windows, which always look best on a black car, and the flush-mounted taillights that look OEM at first glance, but give the rear end an entirely different look when seen side-by-side with a stocker. This car just looks right.

Tan leather is a pleasant change from the usual black upholstery, and this C5 appears to have just about every option you could get. Most visible are the sport seats, which are more adjustable and more comfortable than the standard buckets, and remain in extremely nice condition with only very minimal wear. Bright gauges with electro-luminescent dials look as cool today as they did in 1999, and you'll note that little selector on the center console for the F45 adjustable suspension, which really does have three distinct modes. Dual-zone climate control, power windows, locks, and seats, cruise control, fog lights, and a Bose AM/FM/CD stereo system all make this Corvette as much a luxury cruiser as back road burner. The headlights have been upgraded to HID (high intensity discharge) so it has that high-end look that modern Corvettes show and they're quite effective for high speed driving at night. It also has great storage capacity with a big trunk, and even back there the carpets show virtually zero wear.

The 346 cubic inch LS1 engine needs no introduction, although it's somewhat disguised under the bright red Z06 coil covers. In the years since its introduction, these engines have proven to be incredibly reliable and durable, and there's a huge variety of aftermarket performance parts available for them. Fortunately, this one has led an easy life and still carries most of its factory-spec components, although things like the Vararam ram-air intake system and B&B cat-back exhaust system add a little more punch and a lot better sound without altering the basic reliability of the factory package. The 4-speed automatic transmission is fortified with a high-stall torque converter, so it's snappy around town, yet the tall gearing makes it a superlative highway cruiser. Bright red calipers and crossdrilled and slotted brake rotors look fantastic behind those big 19-inch C6 Z06 wheels, which carry 275/35/19 front and 295/35/19 rear BFGoodrich TA performance radials.
