CORRECT CODE "Y" LEMONWOOD YELLOW,FULLY RESTORED, 350CID V8, NEW INTERIOR,CLEAN
Cars like this 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS are the ones you have to look out for. The color seems subtle, but those performance wheels and sport tires suggest something else entirely. And then there's the very impressive paint and bodywork that make this car stand out in a crowd. If you like walking softly while carrying a big stick, this Chevelle has you covered.
Sporting all-new sheetmetal in 1966, the Chevelle was definitely all grown up and looking for a fight. Painting it code Y Lemonwood Yellow does nothing to diminish the aggressive curves of the bodywork, making this the archetypal muscle car. Someone's got a good pile of cash invested in the work here, with super straight flanks, decent gaps, and no cut corners, making this one heck of a good-looking machine. Although this is a Malibu and not a real SS, they did resist the urge to dress it up with a cowl-induction hood, and with those cool chrome inserts on the stock hood, it was definitely the right choice. Of course, all the proper SS paraphernalia was sourced and installed, including a black grille, crossed-flag emblems on the front fenders, and the matching black tail panel. Then they topped it with a great-fitting black vinyl top that works superbly with the light yellow paint, giving it a very 1960s sensibility that helps it keep a low profile. This is one car they won't see coming until it's too late.
Chevelles have always been big, comfortable machines, and with the handsome black buckets in this hardtop, the tradition continues. The upholstery shows few signs of use, but the condition today reinforces the impression of quality and it's a great place to spend some quality time. A center console divides the interior and includes a slender chrome T-handle shifter and a clock down low, which is always a cool option. The primary gauge cluster covers the basics, with switches for the headlights and wipers in a band above the instruments. The original AM radio is still in the dash, so you know they were focused on more serious business during the build, and the only other major option is power steering, so that focus was definitely on performance. There's a ton of space in the trunk, which offers spatter paint, a newer mat, and a full-sized spare tire.
The 350 cubic inch V8 is obviously quite fresh, sporting modern Chevrolet satin black valve covers and air cleaner in marked contrast to the Chevy Orange block and bright aluminum Edelbrock intake. Very nicely detailed under the hood, it's a great combination of new and old, and you know horsepower never goes out of fashion. Ceramic-coated long-tube headers and a pair of Flowmasters handle the exhaust duties, while the TH350 3-speed automatic transmission bangs off crisp shifts right when you need them. It's quite tidy underneath with undercoated floors, suggesting this was a good car to upgrade. Newer shocks all around improve the ride and it sits right, with those gorgeous polished MB Motorsports wheels and 17-inch redline radials really filling the fender wells.
We love Chevelles, but the ones that really capture our imaginations are those that don't try too hard to be nasty. For this one, it just seems to come naturally. Call today!
