Even the most affordable Ferrari is still a Ferrari. Combining a 300 horsepower V8 with a sonorous engine note, a top that goes down, and vivid bright red paint, this 1991 Mondial T cabriolet delivers prancing horse magic for the price of last year's Honda Accord.
Your neighbors will be shocked when you pull up in this Rosso Corsa convertible, so we'll be sure to keep the sticker price a well-guarded secret. Ferraris are unmistakable, and something in our DNA seems to recognize them instinctively when we see them. The four-seat Mondial cabriolet is long, low, and sleek with period Ferrari styling cues like the side vents with horizontal slats, folding headlights, and, of course, the round taillights that are still in use today. By 1991, Ferrari's quality control had improved to ensure world-class paint and bodywork that has withstood the past two decades reasonably well thanks to the ministrations of an attentive owner and very careful use on sunny days. A black strip along the rockers enhances the long, low look and the chin spoiler hasn't been destroyed by parking curbs or steep driveways. Striking Scuderia Ferrari emblems adorn the front fenders.
Supple tan leather is the Ferrari way and the seats are both supportive and comfortable enough for a cross-continent sprint. They've got a very pleasing broken-in look, again indicative of outstanding care and conscientious ownership. The big analog gauges with bright yellow markings are highly legible and there's simply no other gearshift on earth like Ferrari's chrome gate that rewards deliberate actions. A new Pioneer AM/FM/DVD/iPod stereo system was just installed and comes complete with a remote control. The rear seats show zero wear, and will easily handle a couple of kids or agile adults for short trips. Front and rear trunks are a nice benefit of the mid-engine design. The black canvas top is cleverly designed to mimic the hard top's profile, flying buttresses included.
The 3.4 liter DOHC V8 engine made a nice, round 300 horsepower in 1991, a rather big figure for the period and a nice upgrade over the previous model. It howls to redline with the most wonderful soundtrack this side of LeMans and moves the Mondial with cat-like ease.
You can see the race-bred hardware under the rear deck lid, tightly packed into the engine bay for maximum efficiency. The suspension has razor-sharp reflexes and you already know that the brakes are insanely powerful. Gorgeous 5-spoke 3-piece seventeen-inch Speedline wheels have the classic Ferrari look and wear high-performance Michelin Pilot radials.
With any Ferrari, service records are critical, and a new clutch was just installed by noted local Ferrari techs Automotive International. An extensive folder of bills and records show that the engine was maintained with a complete valve job and timing belt service by Ferrari of Beverly Hills at 40,000 miles. The original owner's book issued by Wide World of Cars is included in the records along with other literature and information issued at time of sale.
Prices for the Mondial T Cabriolet have been rising. A low-mileage 1991 Mondial T was recently sold at auction for $85,000. This Mondial T is an enjoyable driver quality Ferrari that has been well sorted, looks striking, and can be driven for fun without worrying about adding a few more miles. Great fun and a good investment for not much money. Call today!
