Cars that haven't been fully disassembled and restored from the ground up are ganing popularity in the market and for good reason: nothing else feels like an original car. This 1969 Pontiac Firebird convertible has just one repaint in its history, making it one of those wonderful old cars that feels a lot fresher than many of its restored siblings.
The original owner repainted this car in 1983, switching it from Verdoro Green to Espresso Brown, and we can't find fault with that decision. Instead of blending in, however, this sophisticated-looking Firebird gets a lot of attention simply because of the unusual color combination. And for paint that's more than 30 years old, it looks fantastic, with a wonderful soft shine, and there's obviously quality sheetmetal underneath. The Firebird's great look comes through loud and clear, with a pair of scoops on the pointed hood, super straight bodywork, and those cool Pontiac chevron side marker lights out back. And while the Endura front bumper was all the rage, this one does just fine with the standard chrome beak, which is original and in surprisingly good condition. In fact, all the trim is original and shows signs of proper care over the years ... Please ask for the full description.

In fact, all the trim is original and shows signs of proper care over the years and shines up rather well.
Perhaps most remarkably, the interior is completely original, and not only does the code 202 Gold vinyl upholstery look great against the Espresso Brown paint, but it is in fantastic condition. Sure the seats have a few signs of people sitting in them over the years, but you can still slide behind the wheel of this Firebird for a long trip without complaints. Carpets, door panels, and even the steering wheel are untouched 1969 pieces and the burled walnut appliques on the dash and console haven't been baked by the sun. Original gauges still show clear lenses and bright markings and the factory AM radio still lives in the center of the dash. It has been recently fitted with a white pinpoint vinyl convertible top, as original, and it does fit well and offers some great contrast, and it's worth noting that the original boot has the same patina as the rest of the interior, so it has an all-of-a-piece look when the top is down. The trunk is outfitted with a new mat, but the original "salt shaker" cans are still in place and there's a full-sized spare that's surely decades old.
The 400 cubic inch V8 is the original, numbers-matching engine and it's never been out of the car. It starts easily thanks to a Pertronix electronic ignition system, but that is the lone modification to this already fairly potent powerplant. Meticulous maintenance over the years, fully documented with receipts, means that you can drive and enjoy this car without worries and it doesn't seem to have lost a step in the past 45 years. No, it's not all sparkling clean with fresh engine enamel, but if you're a fan of survivors, that kind of stuff is secondary anyway. However, this car does include the proper chrome valve covers and air cleaner lid and the original radiator was re-cored a few years ago so it's ready to cruise for another few decades. The original TH400 3-speed automatic powers 3.08 gears in the original rear end and there's also a new Flowmaster exhaust system and fresh shocks all around. Factory Rally II wheels look exceptionally good and are wrapped with 215/70/14 Goodyear Eagle radials.
Documented with maintenance receipts, owner's manuals, and the original Protect-O-Plate, this awesome survivor delivers the authentic experience that makes such cars so special. Call today!
