Early Chevelles are pleasant enough cars, but with their light weight, they're also ferociously fast, especially when you stuff them with 502 cubic inches of big block Chevy. Add four-wheel disc brakes, a slick two-tone paint job and you have one of the most potent and beautiful early Chevelles we've ever seen.

The ultra-clean look comes naturally to the Chevelle, whose hardtop profile and minimal trim make look modern today, fifty years later. The fiberglass cowl induction hood certainly helps and the timeless dark blue over gray color combination will still look great fifty years from now. The break point between the colors makes the Chevelle look longer and sleeker than the factory finish, and with the dark, shiny paint, the crisply rendered crease on the quarter panel really stands out. Workmanship is extremely impressive, with ultra-straight bodywork and great attention to detail and be sure to check out the custom pinstriping that separates the two colors and highlights the raised center section of the hood. It's been subtly de-badged, leaving only CHEVROLET block letters on the trunk, but the remaining chrome was restored and reinstalled on the glossy urethane paint.

As dramatic as the bodywork is, the interior is relatively stock, sporting original-style buckets and reproduction seat covers and two-tone door panels. New carpets are protected by Chevelle-logo floor mats and a beautifully finished dash pad offers a semi-custom look. The instrument panel is a fabricated piece with a full array of Auto Meter Ultra-Lite gauges and a column-mounted LED shift light that flashes as fast as the engine can rev. A/C has been added under the dash and using eyeball vents neatly integrated into the dash and a hidden AM/FM stereo system with remote is a trick addition. The clean interior styling is not interrupted by a console, just a cue ball shifter for the 4-speed automatic transmission underneath. The trunk is finished pretty much to stock specifications aside from the rear-mounted battery up on the original spare tire shelf.

Mechanically, this Chevelle takes no prisoners. The 502 cubic inch V8 makes enough power to incinerate the tires at will and looks as good as the rest of the car. With .577-inch lift on the cam, a 950 CFM Holley carburetor, and ceramic-coated long-tube headers, it cackles and snarls like a full-race piece and runs superbly. More show-quality work under the hood features bright valve covers, lots of polished aluminum, and attention to detail that wins trophies. The HVAC lines are neatly routed along the fenders and braided stainless lines add a racy-ready look. Modern technology lives behind the engine in the form of a heavy-duty 4L80E 4-speed automatic transmission with a 2600 RPM stall converter, and combined with 3.50 gears in the 9-inch Ford out back, this car is a fantastic highway cruiser and a legitimate threat on the drag strip. Tubular upper and lower controls arms, sway bars at both ends, and QA1 shocks mean that it's also an impressive performer when the road starts to twist. 18-inch American Racing Torque Thrusts are wrapped in staggered 215/45/18 front and 275/40/18 Nitto performance radials.
