The great thing about vintage Mustangs is that you can seamlessly blend old and new without losing the character of the original. This 1967 Mustang coupe, for example, has a '60s hi-po look with a sweet-running 302 under the hood, which combines with an overdrive transmission and 4-wheel disc brakes to create a thoroughly updated driving experience.

Highland Green never fails to wow crowds wherever it shows up, and even on this coupe it looks both sophisticated and sporting. Of course, that's surely helped by the silver stripes that run down the center of the car and along the rockers, a tasteful spin on the Shelby look that seems right for this resto-mod. Finish quality is extremely good, with the original sheetmetal in fine condition before work even began and several thousand dollars spent on getting it just right before the paint went on. The deep shine of the urethane paint is easy to maintain and delivers an incredible sparkle in the sun. Details like the amber fog lamps, hood pins, and the HID headlights improve both looks and functionality without spoiling the vintage Mustang look. All the chrome has been restored, the stainless has been polished, and correct Mustang badges have been added where appropriate.

The new interior is simply stunning, and shows you where a good chunk of the restoration $ was spent. Bucket seats with horizontal pleats and headrests are all-day comfortable, there are new carpets on the floors, and the shiny door panels look like new. The instrument panel is faced with more bright metallic trim, and the gauges appear to have been fully restored and use that classic font that Ford worked so hard to replicate in the late-model Mustangs. A factory center console is joined by an aftermarket armrest with cup holders, but it fits so well you'd almost believe that the factory built it that way. There's also a "garage" storage compartment at the front of the console and an AM/FM/CD stereo head unit that supplies the entertainment alongside an accessory 8-track unit hanging under the dash. The back seat looks completely unused and brand new, along with the carpets and headliner, giving this Mustang a very crisp feeling inside.

The smooth-running 302 cubic inch V8 offers an .030 overbore inside, along with an Edelbrock intake and carburetor to make horsepower. The Ford Blue engine looks great nestled between the shock towers, and wears a proper chrome air cleaner with 289 decals to help with the stock illusion. A Monte Carlo bar and export braces make a noticeable difference in steering feel, and it's particularly crisp thanks to a rack-and-pinion power steering system upgrade. 4-wheel power disc brakes are another modern amenity that updates this pony in a big way, and the ceramic-coated long-tube headers feed a nice-sounding dual exhaust system that doesn't get obnoxious on the highway. A Gear Vendors overdrive unit sits behind the C4 3-speed automatic transmission, holding three additional gears making this one a beautiful long-distance highway cruiser. With 3.55 gears inside the 8-inch rear end, we imagine many enjoyable road trips in your near future. Looking at the undercarriage, you'll note that this car is so clean that there's still red oxide primer visible on the floor pans. Handsome Torque Thrust wheels are the perfect '60s addition and carry recent BFGoodrich T/A radials.
