The Chrysler Crossfire was an interesting piece of recent Chrysler history and the truth is, it's still one heck of a car. At the moment, it's not quite a collectable, but we suspect that won't remain the case for long. Even if you only want a cool car to drive around on sunny days, the Crossfire you want to own is this 2008 Limited, which features a highly unusual color combination, single-family ownership from new, and only 2,900 actual miles.
The original owner of this car spent a considerable amount of time scouring dealership inventories around the country in 2008, looking for this exact color combination. The shiny black exterior highlights the Crossfire's sleek shape, and you can definitely see the Chrysler stylists were hard at work on the details. The ribbed hood, fastback profile, and wonderfully retro grille all gave pre-Fiat Chryslers a distinctive look that really worked. The proportions make it look muscular, like it is crouched and ready to spring, with elegant touches that also look upscale and sophisticated. Thanks to the fact that he finally found his dream car, it should be no surprise that it was babied and tucked away for posterity, showing only 2899 original miles ... Description
Thanks to the fact that he finally found his dream car, it should be no surprise that it was babied and tucked away for posterity, showing only 2899 original miles (not a misprint) and in as-new condition throughout. The black paint shines with a gloss that surely comes from Mercedes-Benz quality control and the rigid platform ensures that the doors feel as solid as the proverbial bank vaults when they swing shut. If you're betting on future collectability, this one is a smart choice.
The interior is what makes this one truly stand out. Called "Cedar," it's a lovely warm red/orange with gray highlights that looks spectacular in the sporty Crossfire. It also shows the same artistic touches that highlight the bodywork, from the handsomely upholstered bucket seats to the matching steering wheel to the swatches of shiny silver trim that looks like raw aluminum. Everything was standard on the Crossfire, including power windows and locks, automatic climate control, cruise control, and a powerful AM/FM/CD stereo system. You'll also note a manual shifter sticking out of the center console, which is linked to a slick-shifting 6-speed gearbox that makes this car a joy to drive. Everything works like it should and even the upholstery is in new condition with nary a wrinkle in the leather seating surfaces.
The 3.2 liter V6 was also a Mercedes-Benz transplant and delivers smooth performance befitting a car of this stature. Actually, all the mechanical bits are lifted almost directly from the excellent Mercedes-Benz CLK roadster, which means you get a rock-solid platform, bulletproof reliability, and surprising performance. The engine bay is dressed up with a slick silver engine cover that makes the powerplant look like an artifact from some future civilization, and with Mercedes engineering underneath, it probably won't ever need anything besides routine maintenance. Despite the low mileage, it has been properly maintained and exercised, so it isn't like one of those garage queens that look great but have mechanical issues. No, you can get in this one today and drive it anywhere with confidence. The undercarriage is equally clean, and even the exhaust system still has a soft shine. Giant alloy wheels fill the wheel wells and wear staggered 225/40/18 front and 255/35/19 rear performance rubber.
Mark my words, the day will come when these cars are sitting in collectors' garages with other serious hardware, and this amazing example will be one of the best available anywhere. Call today!
