396 CI RESTO-MOD, CONSOLE, R134 AC, FRONT DISC, POLISHED 17"; 3:73 POSI, 12-BOLT

Do you want a big block Chevelle that's ready to hit the road? A handsome cruise night brawler with the right look? Love the thrill of big block torque, the chest-thumping sound of a powerful stereo, and the comfort of A/C? In essence, you're looking for a no-compromises cruiser. Well, this 1966 Chevelle SS396 tribute has all of that and more, and comes with a sinister black wrapper to boot!

Built a few years ago, this potent resto-mod has enhancements to almost every major system on board. Starting with the understated '66 hardtop body style is a great choice, because the hardware becomes as important as the look. That isn't to say it doesn't look great, but rather that you aren't distracted from the substance by a bunch of empty flash and graphics. The black paint gives it a grown-up look and while it shows some signs of age and use, there's still nothing like showing up in a black car with a baritone voice like this one has. You'll note that they wisely kept the original hood with its faux air intakes and added the requisite SS badges and crossed flag emblems on the front fenders, just to keep things looking like the factory intended. The chrome and stainless was brightened up and ... Please ask for the full description.

The chrome and stainless was brightened up and reinstalled, but again the overall look is subdued, giving this Chevelle a lot of presence.

Ordinarily you'd think a black interior would be the right choice, but once you've seen how good the white upholstery looks against the black paint and carpets, you'll change your mind. The interior looks crisp and clean and with white seats and door panels that were installed a few years ago, it helps the A/C keep temperatures under control when you're out in the sun. A billet and leather steering wheel, a center console, and an array of white-faced gauges are the obvious upgrades, but if you look closely you'll find there's a lot more to love here. This is a factory air-conditioned car, but the system is now powered by modern components under the hood and R134a refrigerant, so it's easy to keep in top condition. And the AM/FM/CD stereo system with speakers throughout the interior and a big subwoofer enclosure in the trunk sounds fantastic regardless of what kind of music you prefer.

The 396 cubic inch big block was rebuilt in 2009 and features some heavy-duty upgrades to make it really sing. There's a big cam in the center of the V, an Edelbrock 4-barrel carb and Performer RPM intake, and an MSD ignition system, all of which combine to deliver at least the 350 horses advertised on the air cleaner. It's also nicely finished, with bright Chevy Orange paint, some nice chrome dress-up, and careful workmanship to make it look tidy. There's a TH400 3-speed automatic transmission with a 3200 RPM stall torque converter and a set of 3.73 gears on a Posi in the 12-bolt out back, so this sucker lunges off the line like it's hungry. Long-tube headers and Flowmaster mufflers are there for aural support and while this car has never had a frame-off restoration, it probably wasn't necessary given the condition underneath. Polished 17-inch wheels really pop against the black paint and carry 245/45/17 front and 255/50/17 rear performance radials.

This car packs the right hardware at a very reasonable price. For those of you looking for a great cruiser, this is undoubtedly what you had in mind. Call today!
