ERA CORRECT 383 V8, 3-SPD AUTO, PWR BRAKES/STEER, A/C, FCTRY CORRECT COLOR COMBO

This 1968 Chrysler Newport is a true boulevard cruiser with long flowing lines, proper V8 power, great features, and a sharp factory-correct color combo. So when a rare drop-top like this has a ton of originality, and it's offered for such a nice price, you know it's time to pay attention.

We have a photo file showing this convertible was given a proper restoration later in life. And you can see the level of cars in this one today by the straightness of the sheetmetal and the shine in the factory-correct Sandalwood paint. You can also tell how much they cared about keeping this one original with great details like the clean distinct grille, full badging, rear fender skirts, and snug form-fitting bumpers. And the upgraded wire wheels are a terrific addition that give this period-correct elegance. This kind of care is understood, because this is a rare Mopar. It may be from the era of mass-production, but these were a seldom sight with only about 5k Chrysler convertibles produced in 1968 (and less than 3k being Newport drop-tops.) So just imagine how many remain and look this good over half a century later.

Description

The white convertible top looks stylish against the pastel paint, but for true distinction, you'll want to flip a switch to power it down. After all, the back interior makes for quite a tasteful contrast. The newer carpeting and smooth dash reminds you that his one has had the right investments. But it also never loses that vintage style, right down to classic trim in the seatbacks. This is a true full-size machine, and so you have seating for up to six total with plenty of legroom. There are even nice features to keep everyone happy. This is a factory air conditioning car (it will need servicing to blow cold again) and there's an AM/FM/CD stereo hidden in the trunk (you control it with a remote.) But because this is a premium cruiser, they also want to make sure the driver takes priority. That's why you have a fold-down armrest for individual-style comfort, and the classic steering wheel gives you a view to a speedometer as long as the horizon. There's even an auxiliary gauge trio so you can keep a full eye on what's going on in the engine bay.

Under the hood is the big 383 cubic-inch V8. The restoration took time to give the motor a glossy and stock style, and the block is even date-correct to be the original powerplant. It runs like a well-respected classic, and the dual exhaust has a subtly sweet tune. This V8 has the right kind of power and torque to move this large Chrysler with authority. And this drop-top knows how to remain a true boulevard cruiser with features like power steering, power brakes, and a three-speed automatic transmission.

The sale comes complete with restoration photos, owner's manual, and service manuals. This is a classic car that gets attention because no one else at the car show brought one. But more than just being an endangered species, this large Chrysler is one of the most affordable and complete vintage Mopar convertibles you can get your hands on right now. Call today!!!
