CRATE 502, MUNCIE 4 SPD, 3.73 POSI, CORRECT COLOR COMBO, GREAT RUNNING ROADSTER!
This 1967 Chevrolet Corvette convertible is all about having your cake and eating it, too. Enter this Ermine White roadster, which packs a thundering 502 crate motor that is just begging to be driven. That's doing performance right.
This one is also in just the right condition for going out and tearing up some pavement. Forget concours show paint, forget perfectly imperfect fiberglass, this one has a comfortable, lived-in look that's distinctive but not beat up. Perfect is its least favorite word, but everyone around it will ooh and aah over the black stinger on the hood and the gorgeous C2 bodywork, which is probably the most universally-loved car ever built. Instead, it's like jeans and a T-shirt, classic and comfortable and never pretentious. Doors fit well, the chrome is in great shape, and with side pipes, you know this sucker means business. And for a car that's you're going to want to drive, the relief that you'll feel not having to worry about flawless paint will be tangible every time you turn the key.
The black interior is likewise in nice condition but not too perfect. Seat covers, carpets, door panels, and the original teakwood steering wheel are tidy and in good order, and the 4-speed shifter is a welcome sight in any Corvette from the period. Big, bright gauges keep an eye on the big block working up front and show clear lenses and a correct 6500 RPM redline on the tachometer. Heck, even the clock works! It shows 6430 miles on the clock, which was reset to 0 when the 502 was installed a few years ago. The white convertible top might be original, and it's in good enough shape to keep the rain off, but it's for emergency use only because, honestly, who drives a mid-year Corvette convertible with the top up?
Thanks to the versatility of GM's big block engines, the 502 cubic inch crate motor was a neat fit in the Corvette's engine bay. The 502 truly delivers big power thanks to a 4-barrel carb, Bowtie intake, and MSD ignition system. It's backed by the original, numbers-matching 4-speed Muncie, which doesn't seem to mind the extra torque, and with 3.73 gears on a Posi limited slip, the car is a weapon on the streets. Fortunately, the C2's 4-wheel disc brakes are competent, the suspension stays buttoned down, and thanks to repro knock-off wheels, it carries fat 215/65/15 Goodyears that do their best to hook it up.
A drivable Corvette with a big block power and one that you don't have to be afraid to pull out of the garage? Who could have imagined such a thing? This is the real deal, ready to enjoy or to take to the next level, because this is a very worthy car. Call today!
