Pace cars were never designed to be subtle, but the 1998 Corvette Indianapolis 500 Pace Cars have to be the most radical of all. Vibrant Radar Blue paint, yellow wheels and leather, and a graphics package that's visible from space all make these some of the most distinctive Corvettes ever made, and you can bet that also means they're collectable. Remarkably, this one only has 1,100 actual miles on the clock, making it extremely special.
Only 1163 pace cars were built 1998, of which 616 were equipped with the 4-speed automatic transmission, making this a very rare 'Vette indeed. Honestly, the Radar Blue paint would look fantastic without the decals, but as this car sits, it makes a fantastic backdrop for the John Cafaro-designed graphics package. It's in amazing collectable shape, as most pace car replicas tend to be, having been squirreled away for most of its life and today showing only 1,100 original miles. Fit and finish on the C5 was worlds better than the C4 and it shows everywhere you look, from the door gaps to the flush fit of the headlight doors, and on this pace car, even the decals are precisely lined up from panel to panel. Those decals are still in great condition with no ... Please ask for the full description.

Those decals are still in great condition with no fading or peeling, and this car is wearing the Indianapolis 500 script decals on its doors, which were part of the package but only installed at customer request.
The bright yellow and black interior actually works rather well with the pace car package, with headrests that poke up above the body lines to tie everything together neatly. The pace cars were loaded with just about every option, including the aforementioned sport seats, dual zone climate control, memory seats, and a factory AM/FM/CD stereo with Bose speakers that sounds great. Everything works, of course, and because it's barely ever been sat in, it remains in exceptionally fantastic shape overall. Up close, you'll notice a few custom tricks like the race-inspired pedals and contrasting yellow stitching on the steering wheel rim, shifter knob, and brake boot. Custom Indianapolis 500 floor mats fit well and protect the original carpets and the trunk is spacious enough for a weekend's worth of gear. A black canvas top was standard on the pace cars as well, and it folds neatly and easily into the well with practiced ease.
The only engine available in 1998 was the 346 cubic inch LS1 V8 (aka the 5.7L SFI) and it was truly revolutionary. It was only the second year of C5 production and people were still buying ever car GM could build, and the pace cars were gone in a matter of days. The engine remains quite stock, right down to the air filter, so it runs beautifully and reliability is unaffected. You'll note that this is an early build with dual fuel lines (supply and return), but that's the kind of thing only Corvette junkies seem to notice. Underneath, it's as clean as you'd expect still carrying its original H-pipe dual exhaust and factory tips. Really, with that incredibly low mileage, could we expect anything other than a hermetically sealed example of this collector car? The wheels are standard C5 stock, albeit painted bright yellow, and they carry staggered 17- and 18-inch Goodyear Eagle F1 radials.
Pace cars are always highly collectable, so why not own the most dramatic one ever built? Loaded with its original owner's manual, original window sticker, and other one-off goodies, this is about as collectable as it gets. Call today!
