A 1977 International Scout Traveler is already an interesting treat. But when you see an exceptionally well preserved and restored example in upscale Traveler trim, well then, you know you're looking at something truly special that won't stick around here long.

We love International Harvester Scouts a little more than the other convertible 4x4s out there just because you know they represent old school toughness. After all, you had to get them from the same dealer that was selling farm equipment. But that didn't mean missing out on style, and this one represents that perfectly. There has been a recent investment in respraying the correct Tahitian Red and Winter White. This is an expertly applied two-tone that captures the '70s attitude, but with plenty of modern clearcoat and metallic flair. More than just the paint, you can tell it has been treated with care just by the way the front bumper has a mirror-like quality, and the trim remains a complete and unbroken line running down the side. And we understand exactly why this one has been treated so special. International fan know that the Scout Traveler is an extra special treat over the Scout IIs out there with its a longer wheelbase and a one-piece tailgate. It's rarer than even the rare Scout IIs, so don't be surprised about all the appreciative nods you get from true 4x4 fans out there.

While it is possible to remove the roof for cool open-top cruising, one look at the interior, and you know this one did not spend much of its life open to the world (if at all.) Rarely do you see door panels, dash, center console, and flooring in such a nice condition after all these years. No matter if this is exceptionally preserved or expertly restored, it's plush and exceptionally comfortable. And speaking of comfort, this one has great features like a cup holder center console, upgraded AM/FM/cassette stereo w/digital tuner, and factory air conditioning.

International built their own V8 engine for the Scout line. With the optional 345 cubic-inch motor, there's plenty of torque so it never feels like it's working hard. Plus, the low rumble from the dual exhaust is always a favorite. It's mated to a three-speed automatic transmission for easy driving, and the power steering and front disc brakes add to this feeling. The Scout's four-wheel drive system is a stout Dana 20 two-speed transfer case that connects to Dana axles at both ends. So, while this might look like a great original vehicle for Sunday cruising, just know that this one also has the right combo for true 4x4 toughness. But no matter where you drive it, this old-school SUV draws a crowd. In fact, Scouts hit that perfect sweet spot where they are not a common sight (since not many are around in this condition,) but there were enough produced that you don't have to worry about finding spare components.

You know there are very few Scout Travelers this striking or original left out there. So when you can find one that's priced nicely, then you know you have to act fast. Call today!!!
