Description
Whatever you think of the color, this 1937 Ford coupe deserves a very close look and every one of the many awards it has won. Impeccably built to the highest standards, it has a subtle air to it that only serves to highlight the incredible attention to detail throughout. V8 power, all the power accessories youпїЅd want, and ready to enjoy, this is one of the finest rods weпїЅve ever featured.
LetпїЅs just get the color out of the way first. ItпїЅs called Cessna Green, and if youпїЅre like many car guys, itпїЅs a breath of fresh air in a field thatпїЅs just overflowing with red and black cars. No flames, no graphics, and all the sheetmetal is as Henry intended, which only serves to highlight the beautiful build quality that much more. Fit and finish are outstanding, with great gaps and incredibly flat panels that mean someone worked a lot of overtime. All the original trim was retained, including the swept-back grille and iconic teardrop headlamps and culminating with a pair of original taillights cut down and filled with LEDs. The center of the front bumper is from a 1941 Lincoln Zephyr, while the rear license plate is held in place by a modified piece from a пїЅ51 Chevy. And it totally works.
ThereпїЅs more green inside, with a leather-lined passenger compartment that pays tribute to the past but stands firmly in the 21st century. Sure, that pleated leather seat and matching door panels look like theyпїЅre straight out of the пїЅ30s, but the folding armrests, power windows, and slightly more comfortable rake mean itпїЅs built for driving. The dash has been beautifully woodgrained by the pros at Hydrofusion Graphics with the early banjo-style steering wheel finished to match. Check out the 1954 Chevy gauge housings and youпїЅll find a very cool trickпїЅthose are Chevy truck gauges nestled in there but they look so right that youпїЅd swear they were custom. The A/C and iPod stereo systems have been cleverly hidden so the original dash looks smooth save for a center-mounted vent. Simple is usually better, and the trunk offers classic square-weave carpets, simple side panels, and plenty of storage space for long trips.
Reliable, smooth performance is what youпїЅd expect from a rod that looks like this, and the 350 cubic inch RamJet V8 under the hood delivers. With fuel injection, it starts instantly and idles properly every time, and things like power steering and brakes are included. A recessed firewall painted white is a traditional look, and service access is excellent. ThereпїЅs a big aluminum radiator up front, a Mustang II suspension underneath, and a 200R4 4-speed automatic overdrive transmission behind it. 2-inch drop spindles and custom rear springs give it an ideal stance, and a Nova rear end should last practically forever out back. Fresh steel wheels painted a contrasting light green and fitted with original-style hubcaps and trim rings, and are protected by a set of modern whitewall radials.
A 2012 Goodguys пїЅBest Fat FenderпїЅ award-winner, this пїЅ37 Ford isnпїЅt about making a scene, but youпїЅll probably discover that it draws a crowd better than just about anything else. Call today!
