Description

RARE COLOR COMBO W/ PEWTER PAINT, #'S MATCHING, PROTECT-O-PLATE, MOSTLY SURVIVOR

This 1972 Corvette coupe is an affordable car with a pedigree, featuring a matching numbers engine, factory A/C, as well as a rather unusual color which was rather rare for 1972, this Corvette qualifies as more than just garden-variety. And before you dismiss the '72s, remember that this was the last year of the metal bumpers front and rear, making it very special indeed.

Restoring a car always requires a considerable amount of dedication, and this one shows signs of conscientious care over the years. The code 924 Pewter Silver Metallic paint scheme was retained, and silver always looks slick on Corvettes. Details like the gills behind the front wheels, the crisp body lines, and the stainless rocker trim really stand out against the nicely preserved paint. It shines up beautifully, so you'll enjoy your weekends in the garage doing the detailing and the Stingray body looks simply spectacular with the delicate chrome bumpers at both ends.

Code 412 blue vinyl buckets are the car's original specification. A nice change from the more common black, the blue works perfectly with the silver bodywork to deliver a bright, clean look and comfortable accommodations. The buckets featured woven inserts to help keep your backside cool with the T-tops off. The carpets offer the right pile and weave, the door panels are exact reproductions, and the center console houses the controls for the A/C and automatic transmission. All the gauges are fully functional, and this car includes a modern AM/FM/iPod radio which is one of the only notable deviations from stock.

Power comes from the base 350 cubic inch V8, which made a reasonable 200 horsepower (remember that net horsepower ratings kicked in this year, so even the mighty LS5 454 was down to 270 horsepower). Obviously rebuilt and fully detailed at the time of restoration, it's now showing signs of road use, although maintenance has remained first-rate. The chrome will shine up beautifully, and the painted valve covers look correct, even tucked under all those hoses. It comes with the usual early C3 options, including the A/C, which now uses R134a refrigerant, and it sounds muscular breathing through a correct dual exhaust system. The chassis remains clean, although not all shiny and perfect, so you can get in and drive, which is really what Corvettes are all about, and the TH400 3-speed automatic transmission makes it easy. Finally, a set of 245/60/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials fill out the wheel wells nicely.

Complete with restoration receipts, the original Protect-O-Plate, and owner's manual, this is a great Corvette that's ready to enjoy and offers a strong pedigree to go with it. The wonderful color combination is merely icing on the cake. Call today!
