This car is the first of the second-generation Corvettes with the new sleek styling that makes it look better and mechanical improvements like an independent rear suspension that make it drive better. It also has the original, numbers matching 327/340 HP engine under the hood and it's a convertible. Offered just in time for fall foliage touring. Come on down and check it out.

Larry Shinoda and the design team at GM did an outstanding job with this car. It was a dramatic departure from the first-gen cars and set some styling cues that would carry on for years. The hideaway headlights for one. This one is presented in Silver Blue Metallic. Viewed from the front, the car looks downright intimidating with the high arched fenders and center spear on the hood meeting at the front in a sharp edge. The split front bumpers are backed by a grill of horizontal lines that look ready to eat whatever gets in its way. The sharp edge at the nose carries around and straight down the side of the car with the arching rear fenders echoing the front ones. The car looks totally awesome with the top down, but it also looks good with the white convertible top up. For a real treat, drop the hard top on it that was only ordered on 1009 cars that year, and you can't hardly tell that it isn't really a coupe. At the rear, chrome exhaust tips peek out of the lower valence between chrome split rear bumpers.

Open the door and you will find more styling cues were set to carry on for years on the inside too. The dark blue door panel sets the color of the interior and is pretty simple with vertical pleats and smooth vinyl separated by chrome trim. The double arch dash panel is one of those cues that was unique, looked great, and started a trend that would carry on in one form or another for years. The three spoke steering wheel has a Corvette center button and sits in front of a stock dash panel with nice reproduction gauges mounted in it. The shifter for the 4-speed manual transmission rises out of the aluminum trimmed center console and is just begging to be stirred around. The carpets are showing a bit of wear that is normal for their age but the bucket seats are in really nice shape with pleated centers and smooth vinyl surrounding it.

Open the hood and you will find that precious, numbers matching, 327 cubic inch motor nestled down in a neat and clean engine bay. The 340 Horsepower sticker on those finned aluminum valve covers makes it an L76 which is a pretty special motor. According to "Corv-Sport, Ultimate Corvette", that engine puts out that kind of power due to a "11.25:1 compression ratio, large port heads with a high-speed valve train, mechanical lifers, domed pistons, special performance camshafts, and bigger oil pans that hold 5 quarts of oil." Also, it could only be ordered with the 3-speed (not applicable here) or the 4-speed close ratio transmission which is what you see here. Things you can actually see are signs of good routine maintenance like a new alternator and new master cylinder. The rubber meets the road through 215/75R15 tires mounted on steel wheels with center spin hubcaps that have Chevrolet Corvette and the crossed flag logo in the center.

First year of the first redesign of the Corvette. Original, numbers matching 327 engine that appears to be a 340 HP L76, which also means it would have a close ratio 4-speed in it. On top of that, the removable hardtop was only delivered on 1009 cars in '63. So, this car hits a triple. Why don't you come on down and take it on home?
