SL65 UPGRADES, BI-TURBO KIT, WIDE BODY KIT, RETRACTABLE HARDTOP, COOL & FAST!
Tribute cars and clones are big money in the muscle car business, so why not apply the same tricks and tweaks to some of the most ferocious late-model performance hardware? This 2004 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG tribute car gives you the look and performance of the stunning Black Series without the massive quarter-million-dollar price tag.
Built by a dealership in California, this thoroughly reworked 2004 SL600 is just jaw-dropping in person. The makeover included new body panels to give it not only the Black Series' widebody look, but also a new front fascia to make it look like the latest and greatest SL. Your neighbors will never know the difference. Finish quality is, of course, up to Mercedes-Benz standards and the conversion plus the original SL probably pushed the original build cost precipitously close to that of the real deal. Painting it bright red doesn't help in the subtlety department, but wow, does this thing look brutal! Scoops, flares, and a spoiler on the rear end all make it look like it's ready to tear up the front stretch at LeMans. Factory emblems were added to help with the look and since it was completed, it has been used only sparingly, so it remains quite sharp overall.
Any SL Mercedes is first-class in the interior appointments, and the gorgeous gray leather interior remains the height of functionality and elegance. The supportive SL600 bucket seats are a bit more comfortable and a bit less constricting than those found in the Black Series, but they're hardly park benches. And everything you can imagine is included, from climate controls to power everything to an upgraded Pioneer AM/FM/CD/DVD/iPod touch screen entertainment system expertly installed in the center of the dash. It's immaculately maintained and the leather is unblemished, showing only light signs of stretching to reflect the 62,099 miles they've travelled. And one of the highlights of any late-model SL is the folding hardtop, which is a wonder of German engineering that folds neatly into the trunk and seals up as well as any closed car. Of course, that also means the trunk is spacious given the car's size and it's as neatly finished as the rest of the interior.
The real reason you want something like this, however, is the stunning twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V12 living under the hood. With twin liquid-cooled intercoolers, this is the undisputed king of the Autobahn and with more than 700 horsepower on tap, it more than lives up to the promises made by the outrageous bodywork. The workmanship, carried out by a Mercedes-Benz dealer, is pretty impressive and there's no question that this car will absolutely destroy just about anything else on the street. It's impressive under the hood, with the top end dominated by air cleaners and those twin intercoolers, and it all works the way you'd expect from a Mercedes-Benz. The slick-shifting automatic transmission is sharp enough to always be in the right gear, but with more than 700 pounds of torque on tap, downshifts are purely optional. The suspension was lowered to give it that wicked AMG stance and then it was fitted with custom black powdercoated alloys measuring 19 inches up front and 20 inches in back and wrapped in Michelin performance radials.
We love GTO tributes and Shelby clones, and this SL65 AMG Black Series lives up to the same billing: maximum performance, big-dollar image, affordable bottom line. Call today!
