When they downsized the Cutlass Supreme for 1978, they kept the luxury intact that had become the hallmark of the model. They also kept the rear wheel drive configuration because many luxury car buyers prefer the way a rear drive car rides. This particular car is a nice survivor example and you can own this nice driving, personal luxury car at a very affordable price.
The Dark Blue paint on this car is likely original and is great condition with a nice shine. It is a notch back body style and has a tan half vinyl roof that really looks great on this car. Tan pinstripes run from the front fender highlighting the upper body line to the rear fender. A separate pinstripe accents the rear fender line. A chrome accent runs down the center of the hood leading to an Oldsmobile hood ornament. The waterfall grill is unique and is flanked by rectangular headlights with chrome bezels and underlined with a bright chrome bumper. Wheel wells are trimmed in chrome and tan body side molding runs down the beltline of the fenders and doors. Out back the taillights have an Oldsmobile Rocket in the center and are underlined by another sharp looking bumper. Body colored wheels with polished trim rings ... Description
Body colored wheels with polished trim rings and white wall tires completes the look nicely.
Open the door and you will find a nice two-tone Dark Camel and Tan interior. The split bench seat has fold down armrest in the center which can be folded up to make comfortable seating for three people across. The center of the seating surfaces are stitched in a pleated pattern with the Tan in the center surrounded by the Camel. The seat back has a button tufted pattern that adds a little interest and looks great too. A two-spoke steering wheel is mounted on a tilt column which also has the shifter for the automatic transmission. The dash board is nicely trimmed out in woodgrain with the speedometer and engine indicators clearly visible. Ventilation controls are in a separate panel in the center just above the original AM/FM radio and include those for the air conditioning which has been updated to R134 to keep you cool on those hot days.
Under the hood you will find a completely stock and original 260 cubic inch V8 that has seen good regular maintenance. Even the flex hose that draws clean cool air from the front of the car is still in good shape and feeds the air to a flat black air filter assembly. A Rochester Dualjet 210 2-barrel carburetor sends the fuel mixture to a stock intake and cylinder heads with factory valve covers. The alternator appears to have been replaced recently and there are newer hoses, belts, and battery. Power is sent back through a 3-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels, and power steering and power front disc brakes provide nice handling characteristics and confident stopping ability. The rubber meets the road through 195/75R14 white wall tires all around mounted on those body colored wheels with trim rings.
This is a nice driving personal luxury car at an affordable price. Come on down and check it out.
