VERY NICE RESTO, REBUILT ORIGINAL 364CI MOTOR, REBUILT TRANS, FRESH PAINT, NICE!
In the 1950s, Buick Specials were among the best-selling cars built back then. By 1958, the engine was bigger, the body was longer and wider, and there was more chrome than ever. What's not to like about that? 1958 was also the last year for this generation because in '59, it was renamed the LeSabre. This particular example has been expertly reconditioned from top to bottom and will drive and feel like it did when it left the showroom floor.
Presented in a beautiful color called Mariner Blue with a white roof and rear fender accents, this car looks fantastic! It was expertly repainted in 2011 and is extremely clean and fee of defects. The body lines are clean and the gaps between the panels are consistent throughout. All the chrome (and there is lots of it!) is in excellent condition. A unique grill of square openings is framed above and below by copious amounts of chrome. Marker lights are mounted on each side of it in rocket like pods and fantastic ornaments grace the front of the hood and the tops of both front fenders. Chrome accent stripes capture the headlights and dress the side of the car in a line that dives down toward the rear wheel, then turns up and underlines a panel on the rear fender painted in white and trimmed with chrome. The large rear fins are totally encased in chrome and blend into the substantial rear bumper that has a gas cap built into the center just above the license plate.
Open the door and you will find a luxurious interior in two-tone blue and white. The door panels have a blue top edge with a matching blue pleated cloth lower and white vinyl in between. A large steering wheel has a white wrap laced onto it and there is a Power Steering crest in the center of a full circular chrome horn ring. The blue upper dash is padded and below it, the white dash section contains a linear speedometer with the engine gauges lined up along the top of it. The center of the dash panel is painted blue with ventilation controls that look like jet engine throttles and wonderful round chrome knobs for other controls. Seats both front and rear are super comfortable, as would be expected in a Buick, and beautifully upholstered with pleated blue centers with white trim. A white headliner and blue carpeting really tie the look together nicely. An aftermarket stereo that is iPod compatible has been added for a bit of modern listening pleasure.
The work done on the engine, transmission and other maintenance on this car are real highpoints of this restoration. Rebuilding a vintage engine takes care and specialized knowledge. Parts are often reconditioned through careful machining, not just replaced with new parts. This 364 cubic inch V8 received a thorough rebuild by skilled craftsmen. The transmission also received a disassembly, inspection, and replacement of some normal wear items too. Ask your salesperson about the build and maintenance receipts. The engine was reassembled and repainted in the correct color green before reinstalling it and sits down in a nicely detailed out engine bay. You may notice that there are nice features like a power brake booster that operates front disc brakes, and a power steering pump too. The undercarriage of this car is as neat and clean and well restored as the body and engine with new springs, shocks, and sway bars. The car sits on 215/70R15 wide white wall tires mounted on red steel rims with those awesome Buick hub caps.
This is the last of the big chrome Buick Specials. It has been nicely reconditioned and is waiting for you to take it for a ride.
