All 1972 Chevrolet Chevelles are desirable classics that can carry family and friends in style, but this restored example is a cut above. There were some nice dark greens in the Chevelle pallet for 1972, but none of them compare to this. There's a bright luster that can only come from modern paint practices and the metallic elements gives this a true standout presence. Bodywork is excellent all around, with great gaps and a lot of attention paid to getting those iconic white SS stripes correct. All of this is a product of a frame-off restoration that happened in 2014. So beyond just a quality appearance, you also have the confidence of everything being correctly assembled – go ahead and shut the doors with authority. This also gets its aggressive appearance correct with the cowl induction hood, blacked out grille, hood pins, and all that correct SS badging. It was built before new bumper laws so those big chrome kings fit much snugger to the body, and the rear still houses the taillights in a very cool way. And of course, those iconic Torq Thrust wheels add to the individual flair while remaining period-correct.

In a sea of black interiors, this coupe's beige is an instant attention-getter. And just like the exterior, it's the product of a meticulous restoration. The bucket seats, door panels, headliner, and carpeting have the unmistakable feel of an investment in quality. All the right factory pieces are still in place, but now they are joined by some thoughtful upgrades. For example there's auxiliary gauges and an AM/FM/CD stereo mounted below the original heat/defrost controls in the dash. But the best upgrades become immediately apparent the moment you side behind the wood-rimmed three-spoke wheel. The large tach in front of you and the B&M shifter in your right hand should be a clear indication that there is something special under the hood.

The moment you see the engine bay, you know there was plenty left in the budget for a great powerplant. There's a mirror-like shine on everything from the slam panel to the air grabber, but this 350 small block also earns the flames etched on the valve covers. It's been enhanced with a 750 CFM four-barrel carburetor, Weiand aluminum intake, and long tube headers. That last feature feeds a large 3-inch performance X-pipe dual exhaust by the rumble masters at Pypes. The V8 mates to a 700R4 four-speed automatic w/overdrive that feeds the 10-bolt Positraction rear end running 3.73 gears. If that sounds like a package that's good for both performance and highway cruising, you'd be right. Plus, the power steering, front & rear sway bars, and upgraded four-wheel disc brake package heightens this anytime classic feeling.
