It's time to put a pony car in your garage. This 1966 Ford Mustang coupe, and its strong-running 289 V8, is an affordable way to own America's favorite weekend getaway car.
It's hard to beat a bright red Mustang. The paint and bodywork were redone recently, and since then, the car shows signs of excellent care as it's been driven and enjoyed. Gaps and alignment are up to factory standards, and while it never carried a lot of ornamentation, many regard the simplified 1966 models as the cleanest of the early Mustangs. Chrome is good, especially in the rear where the bumpers and taillight bezels were recently replaced. The new-for-1966 grille features horizontal bars in place of 1965's honeycomb pattern, and a “corral” that now floats instead of being suspended on four bars. Of course, it wouldn't be an American classic without a little ornamentation, and so some attractive wire wheel covers were added.
The interior has a nice and fresh appearance. Parchment looks great on these cars, and is a nice change for the standard black. One component that is thankfully not white is the carpeting. The darker color holds dirt better so means you don't have to worry about hopping into this Mustang on a whim and going for a road trip. And that's exactly what these '66 Mustang coupes are great a doing. They are usable and comfortable enough to drive for hours and still arrive in style. In fact, you'll probably never get tired of gazing through the shinny factory wheel at the full five-dial gauge cluster that became standard in 1966.
Ford's reliable and perky 289 cubic-inch V8 moves the lightweight Mustang enthusiastically through any traffic. The engine bay is tidy with some nice added brightwork on the air cleaner and Ford Motorsports valve covers. It's not over-detailed, so you shouldn't be afraid to put this one on the road. And you'll be rewarded for doing this with the added performance from the Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor and updated dual exhaust system with H-pipe construction. This one also truly has a go-anywhere feeling with nice features such as the three-speed automatic transmission and front disc brakes.
The first generation Ford Mustang is a true classic car for those who like driving. They are fun, reliable, and easy to maintain. Now's your opportunity to pickup up a turnkey American icon for a value price. Call today!!!
