This 1968 Mercury Montego MX gives you all the right vintage premium style. After all, it has a clean look inside and out, proper V8 power, and thoughtful touches that make it an upper-market and rarer Mercury.

1968 was a radical design departure for Ford's family of the intermediate line of cars. The vertical quad headlights of the previous year were now turned horizontal and integrated into a new full-width chrome grille. And the profile had flared fenders and better Coke-bottle curves. Polar White is the same as Ford's Wimbledon White, and so it looks good on a sporty coupe, especially when a good gloss shows off well-fitting panels. The Mercury line sold fewer than its Fairlane siblings, especially in the Montego's upper-level MX trim. Not only do you get the distinction of rarity, but also a more sophisticated style. The exclusive grille looks European inspired. The hardtop roof is highlighted by the premium black vinyl, and it goes well with the dark wood-like trim of the rocker stripe. And the rear has an intricate style and a matching walnut-style insert. Plus mag-style wheels, blue-dot taillights, and dual exhaust tips add the right sporty flair to this premium coupe. ... The trim tag tells us the Parchment tan interior is correct for the car, and the look inside is pure vintage cool. There's a well-preserved pleat across the two rows of wide benches, and the door panels are done to match. There's even plenty more of the wood-like trim to coordinate with the exterior. This has some great vintage details like the factory air conditioning and an AM/FM radio with a separate 8-track. They are fun to display, but will need servicing to full function again. And you'll appreciate the little things, like the working dome light and the Mercury crest in the center of the steering wheel. Plus, the cool pillar-less hardtop design will make you never want to roll up the windows.

A premium Mercury also means premium Ford power, and so this was optioned with a 302 cubic-inch V8, and it now has a four-barrel carburetor on top. It continues to have the strong-running nature these motors have earned at Ford, and the dual exhaust has the right tune for a great cruiser. Speaking of driving, the three-speed automatic transmission power steering, power brakes, and wide BF Goodrich tires all come together to make for a good all-around experience.

Complete with owner's manual, this Mercury Montego MX is one of those cars you might not have thought about before, but now that you see it, you'll never forget it. So hurry up, because at this value price, it's going to its new home soon. Call now!
