VERY AFFORDABLE MUSTANG CONVERTIBLE, SURVIVOR CAR, ORIGINAL PAINT

Look, you and I both know why you're looking at this 1967 Mustang convertible: price. But looking beyond the fact that this is just about the most affordable V8 Mustang ragtop on the market, it's also a decent car that is nicer than the price would suggest.

The main thing to remember is that this car is original. The bright Frost Turquoise paint is factory-issue, and while it's not perfect, it's also pretty darned impressive for being almost 50 years old. Fans of authenticity will appreciate this car most, since it has obviously had owners who cared for it properly and no restored car can duplicate the feel of a nice original. Is it perfect? No, of course not. But it's nice enough to get appreciative glances as you drive and more than a few people are likely to tell you that you're driving their dream car. Such is life with a Mustang. It's got a few bumps and bruises here and there, perhaps most notably a small dent in the lower rear valence panel, but you can't see it until you climb under the car and certainly not on the roll. The chrome is in good shape, too, and the entire car has a nice all-of-a-piece look and feel that's representative of good original cars, and nothing stands out ...

The chrome is in good shape, too, and the entire car has a nice all-of-a-piece look and feel that's representative of good original cars, and nothing stands out as too perfect or too deteriorated. It's exactly right for just jumping in and having fun without a second thought.

The interior has the same honest vibe. We believe the interior is also original and the deluxe seats are showing some age with a few splits on the driver's seat cushion. On the other hand, the rest looks pretty darned good so you know that it hasn't been neglected. Perhaps the carpets are newer, since black doesn't usually look this good after four decades in a convertible, but the seats, door panels, and even the dash pad are vintage 1967. Original gauges still monitor the 289 up front and the skinny 3-spoke steering wheel is very 1960s, particularly with the horn button extensions on the spokes. Somewhere along the line, perhaps in the '80s, it received an AM/FM/cassette stereo radio which is a decent step up from the original AM unit and it fits nicely so the dash didn't need any cutting or modifications to accommodate it - that's always nice. The white power top has a replacement plastic rear window in place of the leak-prone 2-piece glass and it includes a matching black boot.

This is a real C-code 289 Mustang, so there's a freshened small block V8 under the hood today. Obviously it's been detailed, and its condition is a nice perk on a car at this price point. Correct from the air cleaner to the valve covers to the Ford Blue paint, it looks fantastic in the black engine bay and runs just as well. It doesn't look like any aftermarket parts were used, so it sticks to the stock recipe and runs like it might have when it was new. There's a C4 3-speed automatic transmission and 2.79 gears out back, so it's an easy, low-stress cruiser at any speed. It's quite solid underneath with no undercoating to hide its originality, and even the single exhaust system sounds right. New 205/75/14 Michelins ride on original steel wheels with spinner wheel covers from the factory.

You know it's not perfect, not at this price, but we know you'll be pleasantly surprised by this honest pony when you get it home. Call today!
