$100K+ BUILD COST, NO EXPENSE SPARED, SHAFIROFF 584 V8/1000+ HP, NHRA CHASSIS!!!

It may look like a 1979 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, but this purpose-built machine was intended to conquer the drag strip. Packing a 584 cubic inch V8, a lightweight fiberglass body, and a combat-ready chassis, this Camaro talks the talk and walks the walk to the tune of low 8-second quarter mile times. And all for a price that's a fraction of the cost of construction.

We love the way this car looks. It's a Camaro, no doubt about that, but it's longer, leaner, and definitely meaner. Remarkably, they did start with a stock 1979 Camaro, although the only factory bit of sheetmetal that remains is the roof; the rest is fiberglass. It was treated to a coat of factory Medium Green metallic paint and a set of reproduction Z/28 decals which is a nice connection to the production line. On the other hand, the cowl induction hood with a big snorkel up top, the exhaust pipes sticking out of the front fenders, and the airbrushed headlights and grille say race car, pure and simple. It's in fantastic shape for a car that smashes into rocks and bugs at nearly 200 MPH and it shows only very minor nicks and chips on the nose. Other race-grade hardware include Lexan windows, a parachute and wheelie bars out back, ... Please ask for the full description.

It's in fantastic shape for a car that smashes into rocks and bugs at nearly 200 MPH and it shows only very minor nicks and chips on the nose. Other race-grade hardware include Lexan windows, a parachute and wheelie bars out back, and Dzus fasteners throughout. This is a great-looking machine that's also extremely functional at the track.

Inside you can tell that no expense was spared on the build. Yes, it's spartan, but finish quality is exceptional. It's built around a full competition roll cage that adds strength and safety to the chassis. A simple gauge includes an array of Auto Meter gauges, the steering wheel has buttons for the line lock, and the sheetmetal interior panels are beautifully finished. Just check out those door panels! Wiring, instrumentation, and other details are professional-grade. There's even a little boot for the brake pedal! Nice, right? Other useful goodies include a fan to help keep the driver cool in the staging lanes, an air shifter for consistency, and a delay box to maximize efficiency. The former back seat area is all tire wells and roll cage and the trunk is now full of fuel cell, twin 16-volt batteries, and a big air compressor and tank for the shifter.

The engine is an aluminum Shafiroff 584 cubic inch big block Chevy V8 that makes just over 1000 horsepower at 7000 RPM. Freshened in 2016, it features BMF 385 cylinder heads, a Comp Cams camshaft, Manley valves, Jessel cam drive, and an APD alcohol fuel system that's been properly drained while it's not being raced. It's backed by a 2-speed PowerGlide automatic in a Dedenbear case and spins a custom built Ford 9-inch rear with a 4.30 gearset on a spool to help it hook up. Holding it all together is a trick Jerry Bickel chassis that's NHRA certified for 6-second runs though 2020, and it has been completely powdercoated in a gold hammertone that looks cool and will last practically forever. The way it sits, the car currently runs 5.20s in the 1/8-mile and 8.20s in the ¼-mile. Weld wheels powdercoated satin black look awesome and carry skinny Hoosier front runners and gigantic Hoosier slicks out back.

Look at the price again. This is a seriously well-built race car that is ready to rock, right now. You couldn't come close to building it for that price but you'll be competitive the moment you pull it off the trailer. This is an extremely impressive package. Call today!
