Here's a vintage Chevy pickup that arrives at the present with its original appeal very much intact while featuring a set of aftermarket wheels adding some splash to its sharp looking exterior. This 1972 Chevrolet C10 Cheyenne is a very solid driver as well - it's outfitted with some nice add-ons under the hood to up its performance abilities, as well as some welcome interior features to make for a great experience on the road.
When Chevy introduced the second generation of C10s, they made a concerted effort to modernize their line of respected trucks so, as far as appearance is concerned, this '72 - which closed out that generation - strikes a great balance of vintage appeal while still showing a broader, more rugged look than its predecessors. The black paint it wears makes a good impression - it's a nice fit for this model and a wet sanding and buffing session will really bring out its best - though it looks far more than just presentable as it is. The signature C10 front grille shows no serious blemishes while sporting a Chevy bowtie in its center that matches the exterior color, and both the front and rear bumpers sit table level and are very solid. Description
In back, the tail light lenses and side markers have been replaced to freshen things up, and the glass on all four sides of the cabin is nice and clear.
The interior presents a sharp, clean appearance and combines an overall factory look with some welcome modern features to enhance the driving experience offered. At its center, the bench seat carries the houndstooth check pattern that was part of the defining style of this truck's era, mixing vinyl and cloth that seems to be in very solid condition. You'll find no cracks on the pad topping the dash area either, whose collection of factory gauges are joined by some aftermarket counterparts to keep a read on vital motoring functions, including a SunPro tach mounted on the column. The original AM radio still holds its position in the center, but there's also a modern JVC AM/FM/CD stereo on board with both iPod and Bluetooth connectivity to provide a wealth of audio options. The bed area is protected by a nicely fitting cover over the top, as well as a liner - and while you can see some evidence of use, this is a work truck at its core and there are no major distractions to be found in back.
Everything looks great under the hood, where a 350 cubic inch V8 sits at the center of the compartment. It's well-dressed in a chrome Edelbrock air cleaner and matching valve covers, and has been fitted with an Edelbrock intake manifold, Holley 4-barrel carb and long tube headers to maximize its output. Farther forward, a nicely sized aluminum radiator offers an electric fan to keep operating temperatures down. The engine is surrounded by a pair of very clean inner fenders and firewall, as well as a collection of fresh hoses. Directly behind it is a TH400 3-speed automatic transmission to complete a period correct drivetrain that's functioning smoothly and won't leave you dreading heavy traffic any more than you already do. Featured power steering and power front disc brakes mean this classic pickup is easy to navigate and stop, and it sits on a set of great looking 15" Eagle Alloy wheels carrying Mastercraft Avenger G/T tires.
