The 1967 Buick Rivera was a true star at General Motors. This was the only personal luxury E-body cruiser with rear-wheel drive, and this was the first year for the new V8. That means this is a true cherished example with its numbers-matching 430 unit. And you can pick up this cool and loaded classic for under $25K.
The factory-correct Arctic White paint is the perfect color backdrop for the chiseled front end, with razor-edged fenders and hidden headlights. 1967 was a great design that kept familiar cues from the iconic '65 Riviera, including hidden headlights, but this model year had a larger and more unique presence. Finish work is quite good, with a very straight body panels and a black pinstripe that perfectly highlight's this car's gentle curves. A black vinyl top has been nicely restored with correct materials and straight seams, and as with all vinyl tops, the important areas under the rear window seem to be in good order. As with many early Rivieras, the use of chrome is restrained, with massive bumpers but little else to detract from the clean shape, and all of the brightwork here is in very good condition. As with many early Rivieras, the use of chrome is restrained, with massive bumpers but little else to detract from the clean shape, and all of the brightwork here is in very good condition. The five-spoke American Racing wheels are a real standout that adds an attractive custom touch, without appearing overly flashy at the car shows.
The black vinyl interior has the perfect 1960s craftsmanship and adornment to really look like a grown-up's car. Exceptionally nice upholstery on the bench gives textured individual seating areas. Options include A/C, that has been upgraded to R134a refrigerant and blows ice cold, a tilt steering column, a power seat, and power windows. The original AM/FM radio is still in place but the speakers are actually hooked up to a jack for your modern XM/MP3/iPod tunes. The gauges are very cool, including the wonderful barrel-type speedometer, that makes for a compact instrument cluster that's easy to read at a glance. It even has a pre-set speed warning system. The three-spoke steering wheel will look familiar to Buick fans, but the Moon Half Sweep tachometer mounted to the column is a nice non-factory item. It is a correct piece for '60s nostalgia, and a reminder about the serious power under the hood.
Buick's 430 cubic-inch V8 was all-new for this year, and became legendary for it massive torque production. This big block moves this big Buick with the kind of power delivery that's equal parts muscle car, and luxury coupe. It's impeccably smooth with just enough of a rumble from the Flowmaster dual exhaust to let folks know that there's some serious blasting powder under the hood. This is a numbers-matching engine that's almost entirely original, and with bright Dante Red paint on the block, you can tell that it has led an easy life. It's mated to the smooth and trusty ST400 three-speed automatic transmission. This is connected to a 12-bolt Positraction rear end, with a 3.42 ratio, for perfect highway cruising. Plus, there's a rebuilt suspension with front and rear sway bars. Combine this with power steering, power brakes, and modern Falken Ziex tires, and it's easy to enjoy this Buick, even on long trips.
This is a high style, high horsepower, and highly authentic Buick, that will make you the hit at any cruise-in. Best part is it's budget priced so you don't have to live on the Riviera to own this Riviera. Call today!!
