Instead, there has been a good restoration to the iconic features like the V-shaped grille, the stainless side trim, curved chrome bumpers, and the chevron-shaped taillights. One piece that is definitely not original is the paint. The bight red is from a modern palette that's been applied in the last few years. It has the perfect color to glisten in the sunlight, that acts like a beacon at the car shows. The Pacer five-spoke alloy wheels complete the attention-grabbing style.

Inside the black and gray interior offers the ideal mixture of old and new. The front cloth bucket seats feature a level of comfort unknown in 1940, but from the driver's seat, you look out on an original dash, and grab the cool stock two-spoke tilt steering wheel. Of course there is no mistake that this one is anything but custom because beyond the original wheel is a full set of AutoMeter gauges in a custom inset. Plus, the tall four-speed manual stick shift gives you a nice place to rest your arm. You can install the original-style AM radio that's currently stored in the spacious trunk, but it will still never outshine the exhaust rumble that's pure automotive music.

Before popping the hood, you better put on sunglasses. This 350 cubic-inch Chevy small-block V8 has been specially built for both show and speed. Beyond the look-at-me chrome are features such as Weiand Hi-Rise intake, Carter 750 CFM aluminum four-barrel carburetor, and custom headers. You have complete control over this power with a Borg Warner T10 four-speed manual transmission. This hooks up to a Ford nine-inch rear end, but the control and comfort doesn't end there. Up front there's a Mustang II-style Heidt independent suspension, and the rear is a coilover with KYB gas shocks. Plus, this is a power steering car that also comes with front disc brakes.
