REAL DEAL '72 SPLIT-BUMPER SS, HIGH-END RESTO, DATE CORRECT 350 V8, FACTORY A/C!

The time is now to get your second-generation Camaro. As you've seen if you've been watching our inventory over the past few years, prices on second-gen F-bodies are on the move as the guys who grew up with them find themselves with a bit of disposable income. This brilliant 1972 Camaro SS is surely nicer than new, yet offers an authentic experience that will bring back all those great memories.

Aside from the 2-inch cowl induction hood, which is pretty darned wicked, this is a very stock-looking Camaro. From the gaping blacked-out grille up front to the ducktail spoiler, the car looks fast from any angle and you simply can't go wrong with bright red and black SS stripes. As I said, the finish on this car is far, far better than new and it's obvious that a lot of love went into this restoration. The bodywork is super straight, the crease running along the body is sharp enough to give you a paper cut, and the stripes are crisply outlined against that vivid red paint. Open and close the doors and you'll find that they don't sag and don't take a lot of effort to close, which is remarkable given the size of the doors themselves. The few chrome bits that are on the car, including the front ... Please ask for the full description.

The few chrome bits that are on the car, including the front bumperettes and the rear bumper are in excellent shape and the black vinyl roof looks brand new.

Stock black bucket seats and correct door panels look equally nice inside, and you can see that the second-generation Camaros were definitely aimed at the driver. A few woodgrained bits warm up the otherwise monochromatic interior color scheme, and the horseshoe shifter remains the coolest way ever to select the gears. Factory A/C and a tilt steering column are nice additions to the features list and the car came from the factory with a full array of gauges, which might be showing their age a little bit today but remain fully functional. A nice dash pad, taut headliners, and a back seat that's more like a pair of mini buckets, all of it is in excellent shape. A newer AM/FM/cassette stereo slots neatly into the center of the dash and the trunk is correctly finished in gray spatter paint and shows off great sheetmetal underneath.

Power comes from a date-code-correct 350 cubic inch V8 that was rebuilt and stuffed under that cowl hood to make it feel like 1972 all over again. With an open-element air cleaner and a reproduction decal, it looks fairly OEM, especially with the Chevy Orange engine block underneath. A few dress-up items and an aluminum intake manifold brighten the place up a bit. The transmission is an erstwhile TH350 3-speed automatic feeding a rugged 10-bolt rear end, so you know this Camaro was built for fun without worries. A dual exhaust system frees up some ponies that may not have been present in 1972 and gives it a mellow sound that's muscular without being annoying. And handsome charcoal-colored SS wheels are the perfect choice, particularly when they're wrapped in fat 235/60/15 BFGoodrich rubber.

Exhaustively researched, they worked hard to make this car authentic and it shows. The fact that it's also beautiful is merely a nice bonus. Call today!
