OK, so the correct code 51 Sundance Yellow flawlessly covers the car, but what most folks remark about most on this car is how much they like the simpler look. The classic dual cowl Formula hood and the rear trunk spoiler, beautiful body lines that resonates performance , the redesigned Firebird looks awfully darned good. This one sports a recent repaint that certainly does it justice, with a yellow hue that seems to capture your attention in a very subtle way. It also shows off symmetrical gaps all around, the requisite ducktail spoiler, and T-tops which are smoked glass for a very 1970s cool effect. The urethane bumpers, which are always prone to cracking with age, are in excellent condition and actually match the rest of the body, something that could rarely be said for these cars when they were new. And the dual cowl Formula hood, looks great. Correct Firebird and 'Formula' decals have been affixed in their proper locations just in case anyone doesn't recognize the car.
Fortunately, the Formula got all the luxury inside, including the supportive and comfortable black buckets from Pontiac. The upholstery is in excellent condition, with only the lightest signs of use since the restoration was completed. All of the high-end Firebirds came loaded with options, with this one sporting factory A/C, power windows, and an AM/FM stereo radio in the woodgrained dash. You also got a comprehensive set of instruments that includes a clock along with a 100-MPH speedometer. Aftermarket floor mats protect the new black carpets, and none of the interior fittings show any UV damage despite the open-air appeal of the T-tops overhead. The trunk appears to be quite original, with the original soft factory trunk liner.
Even in 1978, Pontiac offered a wide variety of powerplants in the Firebird, with the Pontiac 350 cubic inch small block being the weapon of choice in this Formula. Clean and nicely detailed but not over-done, it recalls the great engines of the glory years with its Pontiac Turquoise paint, chrome valve covers, and that big open-element air cleaner up top. There's an Edelbrock intake feeding the potent small block, along with a 4-barrel carburetor that helps bolster torque. It's backed by a TH350 3-speed automatic and the original 10-bolt rear. A new exhaust system sounds fantastic with Flowmaster mufflers and Pontiac quad tips just behind the rear wheels, and as long as you're under there looking around, note how clean those floors really are. This car's mileage is believed to be original. Color-matched Rally II wheels with polished trim rings and 225/70/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials make up the rolling stock, completing the slick look.
Want some rarity and to stand out at the next all Pontiac show? This Formula will do just that and it will also only keep going up in value for years to come. Great colors, lots of options, and enough performance to legitimately be called a muscle car. You can buy with confidence, call today!
