272 V8 BLOCK, 4-BARREL, 3-ON-THE-TREE, GREAT RUNNING & DRIVING VINTAGE FORD!!

This 1956 Ford Customline sedan is one of those rare finds that mean the hobby is still healthy and still focuses on what really matters: having fun with old cars. Restoring a car like this to this level doesn't make any kind of financial sense, but someone put it right with a ton of time, money, and love, and it's that last thing that really drives the hobby. And it certainly doesn't hurt that it's a really nice old car, too.

The handsome white paint job makes this car kind of subtle, and the quality doesn't jump out at you right away. But get up close and you'll see that the paint really is beautifully done, smooth and shiny without the slightest hint of wrinkles underneath. Given the way the doors fit, it doesn't seem likely that this car has ever been hit or wrecked or even used particularly hard. Instead, it feels solid and complete, and the doors close with a positive feeling that's hard to replicate today. It was originally black, and perhaps they decided that black paint was just too much work to maintain, because they certainly didn't cut any corners and this car could have proudly worn the high-visibility paint without a penalty. Better still, the chrome has been completely ... Please ask for the full description.

Better still, the chrome has been completely restored and anything that was up to the restorer's obviously high standards was replaced, so everything has a very uniform and very high-quality look, including the bumpers, side trim, and plastic lenses.

The jaunty red and white interior is a very bright and very welcome upgrade over the original gray fabric. Looking more like Thunderbird upholstery than a 4-door sedan, the factory bench seats were covered in correct-looking pleats with tasteful door panels created to match. The entire dashboard was painted red to contrast with the body and blend in with the upholstery and I think that was the right call here. A black steering wheel, factory gauges, three-on-the-tree shifting, and a factory block-off plate for the radio delete gives it a very basic look that works with the 4-door sedan's no-nonsense demeanor. Heat and defrost are appreciated and make this a car you can enjoy well into the cool days autumn and most sedan owners learn pretty quickly that their cars become the most popular seats in the house when the air turns cold. Aside from a 12-volt conversion, it's quite stock throughout, including the nicely finished trunk with a full-sized spare tire.

A 272 cubic inch V8 topped by a 4-barrel carburetor powers this sedan and it makes for a surprisingly quick and agile package. The block is easily recognized by its wrap-around exhaust manifolds and while it isn't detailed for show, it gets the basics right: it starts easily, runs quite well, and has a great V8 burble thanks to a new glasspack-style muffler. The 3-speed manual transmission makes the most of the V8's ample torque curve, which minimizes the shifting you'll need to do, and with highway gears in the 9-inch rear end, it's a relaxed highway cruiser. 15-inch steel wheels are fitted with a set of extremely nice factory hubcaps and a set of 215/75/15 Goodyear radials.

This attractive Ford represents a great deal of style for not a lot of money, but perhaps more importantly, it's a reminder that old cars don't have to be profitable; they just have to make you smile. Call today!
