TRUE 138 SS, 454 CI, BLACK ON BLACK BUCKETS, 3:42 POSI, FLOWMASTER, STRAIGHT!!

Take one real-deal 1967 Chevelle SS. Add black paint, a beautifully restored interior, and some fresh chrome. Power it with 454 cubic inches of power, then go out and break some hearts. The recipe is simple, but one look at this extremely nice Chevelle will convince you that building one this nice is no easy task.

The cowl tag says this one should be Marina Blue, but if you're building a street brawler, you go with black. Nothing looks better, particularly when the body is laser straight, and you don't want anyone mistaking this one for anything but an apex predator. And the sheetmetal is, indeed, quite straight thanks to a many hours spent blocking and sanding every square inch of it. Gaps are quite good all around, so it's not like the body's been tweaked and twisted by the horsepower and it's obvious that someone spent a lot of time putting this car back together. No modifications or changes to the body; it's stock, right down to the original hood with its cool chrome grilles, and all the SS badges are legit because this is a real code 38 Super Sport hardtop. All the chrome and stainless trim was polished up and reinstalled, and I don't have to tell you how good it looks next to that ... Please ask for the full description.

All the chrome and stainless trim was polished up and reinstalled, and I don't have to tell you how good it looks next to that black paint. Even the crossed-flag emblems on the front fenders are correct, although we'll talk more about the powerplant in a moment.

Black buckets and a console make this Chevelle look right on the inside, too. The seat covers are fresh, the carpets are correct, and the headliner is taut, all signs of a recent makeover. Like the exterior, the interior hasn't been radically modified and sticks to the stock script aside from an aftermarket tach and auxiliary gauges under the dash. The factory center console has the shifter for the TH400 3-speed automatic transmission as well as a stylish clock in its own pod. The original gauges look crisp and clear in the wide band of Plexiglass that covers them, and the AM/FM/cassette stereo fits well without drawing too much attention to the update. The rear seat still looks virtually unused, while the trunk is fitted with a correct mat and a full-sized spare with cover.

Big block Chevelles were nothing unusual in 1967, but the big 454-inch V8 under the hood of this SS is more than a match for anything the factory was building back then. There's enough chrome and shiny dress-up parts to dispel any notion that this is a stock car, and with a long list of upgrades, it has nothing to fear on the street. All the usual suspects are here: Edelbrock, Holley, MSD, and they come together to make an engine that's not only powerful, but quite streetable as well. Chevy Orange engine paint adds an air of authenticity to the engine bay, and all that chrome certainly makes it flashy. The underside is commendably clean, albeit not detailed for show, and again most of it's just black paint, so there's no undercoating to hide serious issues. A newer Flowmaster exhaust system sounds righteous and the 12-bolt rear has 3.42 gears spinning on a Posi. Factory Rally wheels with 235/60/15 front and 255/60/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials are fat enough to fill the fenders without calling too much attention to themselves.

With all the right ingredients, this big block Chevelle is one heck of a dish. Call today!
