'70s Corvettes like this 1974 Stingray are an awesome way to get into the Corvette hobby without a huge investment. Where else are you going to get a powerful V8, curvaceous 2-seater bodywork, and an all-independent suspension that can still run with some pretty serious hardware, all for under $20,000?

Finished in original Mille Miglia Red, there's no denying the appeal of the C3 bodywork. Everybody, car person or not, can instantly identify a Corvette like this, and they remain an icon of performance, even forty years later. This one is in good condition, too, with good fiberglass that looks highly original and undamaged and an older paint job that looks authentic. Remember that the best Corvettes are not perfect, but rather finished the way the factory would have done it, and this one has an air of originality to it that is refreshing in a sea of over-restored 'Vetes. The '74 model is a favorite among C3 fans, too, thanks to its combination of the new urethane front and rear bumpers and original flying buttress C-pillars, which create a unique look.

The black bucket seat interior is a combination of restored and original components, suggesting that this car has led a pretty easy life. ... Please ask for the full description.

The black bucket seat interior is a combination of restored and original components, suggesting that this car has led a pretty easy life. The seats remain in excellent condition with no splitting or tears, the door panels are nicely preserved with vivid wood appliques, and the original center console still houses controls for the TH400 3-speed automatic underneath, as well as the power windows and engine specifications plaque. Power windows, A/C with R134a refrigerant, and a powerful AM/FM/CD stereo system upgrade make it a pleasure to drive, even when you're not running hard. All the gauges appear to be original and functional, and the lift-off T-tops create an open-air experience that Corvette lovers embrace. If you're the kind of guy who likes long road trips in a cool car, it would be hard to do better than a vintage Corvette.

More than $14,000 has been spent over the past four years to make this Corvette mechanically excellent. There's a freshly rebuilt and heavily upgraded small block under the hood, which has less than 1000 break-in miles on it. Thanks to a slight overbore, it now displaces 356 cubic inches, and there's no doubt that it has been warmed over, with cool cast aluminum valve covers, a bright aluminum intake, and those red MSD ignition system components. It fires quickly and easily, with an appropriately muscular exhaust note and pulls hard through the gears. Underneath, the transmission has also been rebuilt, there are fresh U-joints in the driveshaft and rear axles, new brakes all around, including calipers and rotors, and the strut rods in the rear suspension have been replaced, making this vintage 'Vette ride like new. Four 225/70/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials have been fitted to the original Rally wheels to round out the package.
