But while this kind of modification can be found on those street-eating custom Chevy trucks, this one stands above those... literally. Its tall prowess is gives it the kind of lifted stance that not many people see on these classics.

Inside, the new and vintage worlds blending seamlessly. The exterior red returns on the doors and dash. Now its joined by a distinct black on the comfort spots, like the upgraded bucket seats, carpeting, door cards, and grippy three-spoke steering wheel mounted on a tilt column. Beyond that, the full AutoMeter gauge package has a classic-style appearance, but does a terrific job of keeping you fully informed. But your favorite upgrade will undoubtedly be the modern R134a air conditioning – they never had it this good in '54.

When you look under the hood, this really begins to reveal the true nature of this beast. The 350 cubic-inch V8 is certainly more powerful than anything that was available in the 1950s. Plus, it has been upgraded further with a Holley four-barrel carburetor, and the long tube headers that add more power as they feed the rumbling dual exhaust. And the aluminum radiator with electric fan shows you that they wanted to make sure this custom build could properly run cool even if you're in traffic with the A/C pumping. This was built on a 4x4 chassis for superior ground clearance and a commanding view. Currently it would need a transfer case and a driveshaft to return the full off-road nature, but that's not really the point of this build. With power steering, front disc brakes, and a four-speed automatic transmission with highway-friendly overdrive, this custom 3100 is a great cruiser that can also haul all your chores.
