Attention Plymouth fans. What is being offered here is a fantastic example of a very rare, numbers matching, Formula S Barracuda in its factory correct colors. It received a very high-quality restoration that was performed with meticulous attention to detail. And it shows. Come on down and check out the results for yourself. We think you will be impressed.
The factory Dark Green Metallic looks great on this car. It is smooth and shiny and really shows off the muscular curves of the car. The hood flows down like a sheet of glass to the split grill trimmed in chrome and underlined by a simple chrome bumper. From the side, the fastback roofline is the dominating feature. It slopes down very gradually in an extremely streamlined fashion, meeting the bulge of the rear fenders on the sides as it pulls back in and comes together at the rear panel. A flip open gas cap on the rear quarter is a nod to its racing heritage. The fit and finish of that rear panel is outstanding with its chrome band tracing around the outside of the taillights and carrying the red from them around a black panel in the center. Barracuda is spelled out across the center and a precious, Formula S badge appears on the right. Another sharp looking bumper underlines everything with a couple chrome exhaust tips peeking out from under it.
Open the door and you will find the factory Black interior that looks like it never left the showroom floor. The black paint along the top edge of the door has a mirror like shine. The Black vinyl of the panel itself has a woodgrain center section with bright chrome trim that cuts a straight line across the top and lines out the woodgrain center section. The upholstery also looks new with pleated centers and smooth side panels on the seats and an armrest between the front buckets. A woodgrain wheel is mounted on a three-spoke hub with a Barracuda swimming across the center button and the shifter for the 4-speed manual trans is just a flick of the wrist away. Behind the wheel is a completely stock and correct dash panel that has been meticulously restored and again, looks like new. The gauge faces are all crisp and clear with the factory tach sitting between the speedometer and the engine gauges. The dash pad, headliner and carpeting are also spotless and tie this interior together beautifully.
Open the hood and you will find a 383 cubic inch motor nestled down in a spotlessly neat and clean engine bay. It is part of the Formula S package, is a numbers matching engine, and was restored to be absolutely correct. The firewall and inner fender wells received their share of love too and are as highly polished as the outside of the car. The black air cleaner assembly has a 383 Super Commando decal on it and it sits on the original carburetor. The orange engine paint is also correct, as it should be for a great stock car, and even the underside of the chassis is neat and clean and fully restored. This car will definitely wow the judges for its originality and attention to detail at the car shows. Even the bias ply Firestone Wide Oval tires with their raised white lettering are period correct, and they really complete the look of this car perfectly.
This is a show stopping car that has been restored with meticulous attention to detail. It was a rare car when it was initially produced, and there can't be but a precious few of them out there anymore that are this nice. Come on down and check it out.
